Indra's clan symbol

Indra's clan symbol seemed to be a crescent moon, But Hagaromo was said to have created the moon on his deathbed but we clearly see that the symbol has been attributed to indra from the time Hagaromo was training his sons.

So my question is what is the symbol suppose to represent if there was no moon or moon phases to base it off of???

The moon statement is hard to judge. If the moon was the juubi's shell then why does the moon still seem intact even after the juubi was summoned to earth. I feel as if the so6p simply sealed the juubi in the interior of the moon somehow, but its a wild guess.

Probably, coz the uchiha symbol seems like the g*y version of indra.
