In manga, its still unclear about the time when ashura and indra's spirits transferred to naruto and sasuke.

I am going to prove that ashura and indra's spirits transferred to both naruto and sasuke respectively when they fought at Valley of the end.​

I agree that it likely happened sometime after birth...otherwise there was no reason for Hagoromo's line about seeing why Ashura would choose Naruto, because he had something special that drew people to him.

People on here are stuck on real world concepts of reincarnation and fail to take into consideration that the Naruto world may be unique.

recently we have had Obito enter Kakashi ,and in the past we have had Oro's transmigration Jutsu, so the scenario is very possible.

It'd make since too...the Sage said he saw Ashura's chakra clinging to Naruto...Indra's chakra left Madara. Madara and Sasuke were alive at the Same time...Insinuating that they at least have different souls. To think that Ashura and Indra waited until they found proper containers that shared similar Ideals to themselves and thus would have to enter after their container developed a personality doesn't seem farfetched.
