The sage separated the ten tails before he died but he had his two sons long before then. That meant they were sons of a juubi jin. Now considering that asura's avatar is very similar to naruto's bm mode, its safe to assume that this is chakra that he got from the juubi. He would be (in a way) a pseudo jin. Which is why he had the strong body.

Indra only got the eyes. Why only the eyes? Because if he had the same chakra as asura, he would have the body and eyes. So logically indra shouldve been weaker then asura.

But for them to be "equals", indra would need biju/juubi jin level chakra which would go against asura being the "body".

So if indra was strong enough to keep up with asura, shouldnt he also be the "body'?

Just like if we used naruto and sasuke. Asura would be a naruto with more chakra, and indra would be a sasuke (or madara) with only ms or ems. I'm not really seeing the equalness. Indra shouldve gotten stomped

Yes but ashura a huge much of chakra and spiritual energy so I think it all balance things out, but you make a good point

even if we looked at naruto and sasuke before sasuke absorbed the biju chakra. sasuke has powerful eyes and strong(enough) chakra. yet if naruto had access to more biju/juubi jin chakra (and more senjutsu) he should mop the floors with sasuke. Its like juubito stalemating with double rinnegan (none juubi) madara when someone clearly shouldve won that fight :|

Indra has ocular powers and Ashura has body/sage powers. They equal out completely. Currently, Sasuke theoretically is stronger with unlimited chakra at his tips. You're thinking too much into powerful eyes versing just large chakra.

It's not all about explosions and overwhelming force. Ashura could manifest his chakra to a cloak form, and had sage mode, and Indra had the Mangekyou Sharingan. Naruto has the tailed beasts as an upgrade to Ashura, and Sasuke, the Rinnegan. You have to imagine that if Ashura should be great because he was born from a host, then so should Indra.

Physical strength doesn't have much input in the match. While Ashura has more chakra, Indra's chakra is of better quality(stronger). This could go either way, making techniques less consuming, or making them stronger. Sasuke, like Madara, was also born with exceptionally stronger chakra, even for an Uchiha.

I think it does. Although, Indra was a genius, Ashura worked hard to rival him in strength. It has nothing to do with their abilities.
