The Indra/Ashura archetype has been seen many times in Naruto, even in non-manifestations of the brothers.
Kakashi/Guy: Kakashi was one of the best Indras, a prodigy beyond compare, even before he got Obito's left eye. Guy, also one of the best Ashuras, had no talent at all, probably the least talented top tier ninja ever. But he worked his ass off and surpassed Kakashi in the end.
Neji/Lee: Another good example, Neji is kind of a decent Indra, and Lee was a pretty good Ashura. This rivalry never really developed after part 1 though, so not much to say....
Madara/Hashirama: Probably the worst example tbh. Hashi was more talented than Madara, and never had to actually surpass Madara during his lifetime. So Madara is arguably the worst Indra ever since he was dominated by his counterpart the whole time. Hashirama also is probably the weakest of the three incarnations of Ashura (Ashura, Hashirama, Naruto) as he never acquired any of the tailed beasts and relied entirely on his innate techniques and immense chakra reserves.
Orochimaru/Jiraiya: I like this one. It's a perfect example: Orochimaru was talented, Jiraiya was kind of a loser. Jiraiya ended up becoming extremely strong through hard work, and Orochimaru constantly sought power, more so than any Indra aside from maybe Madara (though the amount of time Oro put in is probably more than Madara). However, it isn't known whether or not Jiraiya ever surpassed or even equaled Orochimaru
Sasuke/Naruto: This one might be the best example. Sasuke was a loner and pretty talented ninja (not too talented for an Indra though tbh) and Naruto sought friendship and was a pretty horrible ninja. Sasuke sought power to kill Itachi (selfish reason) and Naruto sought power to bring back Sasuke. Now, Naruto has probably surpassed Sasuke (until Sasuke has two Rinnegan eyes, I think Naruto is pretty clearly stronger than him). One thing that always interested me about this rivalry was that Sasuke always thought of himself as Naruto’s superior while Naruto believed they were equals. Kind of sums up Indra/Ashura lol.
Itachi: An extremely compelling case here. Itachi was the most talented Leaf ninja ever as a child (other than maybe Kakashi), but he didn’t really ever have an Indra attitude. Except he kind of did. Itachi’s arrogance came from his belief that he had to do everything, since he was so gifted and so aware at such a young age. Also, Itachi has no real counterpart. I believe that Itachi represents parts of both Indra and Ashura, which I guess is pretty obvious but I’m not sure what to make of it.
So yeah, that’s about it. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some examples though. I’m not sure what to do now, this just came to my mind and I figured it would be pretty interesting…Enjoy
