sasori vs deidara is debateable, but Deidara almost killed Hebi Sasuke and he Defeated Gaara, sasori gave up vs Chiyo and Sakura, we never got to see him vs another ninja so its hard to make a huge case for him. not to mention Deidara gave Itachi trouble(can't remember the fight tbh).

Although i agree with everything you said about deidara being on list over sasori. Deidara gave Itachi no trouble, that was part of why he wanted to fight sasuke, then got frustrated because he was reminded of how easily he was taking by itachi and him not acknowledging his "art"
