Is it possible to live forever?

When I was a kid, I was fascinated with the idea of living forever. Back then, I thought that death will only
happen in movies and we have the option to live as long as we like. But, when people around me are starting
to get old and die, there I have realized the reality of death. The moment that we were born, we already have
a death sentence. It’s just that we don’t know when our time will come.

For ages, people have looked for ways to become immortals. In ancient times, great rulers used alchemy in
the desperate attempt to have the Elixir of Life and some even sent an entire army to look for the Fountain of Youth.
Now in modern times, many believe that death is actually a disease. And like any other diseases, it can be
cured. There some who wish to place their dead bodies in cryogenic state, believing that future scientists
will eventually find the cure for death.

I believe that a thousand years from now, humans will become immortals. Here is my prediction:

1.) With the perfection of the NANO technology, scientists can now develop a super micro chip that can record
a man’s memory since birth.

2.) At the moment of birth, this super micro chip will be injected into the brain and the recording starts.

3.) Like the human brain, the super micro chip will completely retain good or joyful memories.

4.) At 25 years of age, scientists will extract your cells for cloning. Given the right medical condition, this is the
best stage to clone yourself where you are at your peak.

5.) Cloning now so advance that machines can perfectly produce clones in just a matter of months. Like computers,
the clones cannot function without the super micro chip. Partly clones are semi-android with NANO-tech blood and organs.

Having the super micro chip in your brain and the several clones at your disposal, you can now have immortality.
Every time our body got severely injured, doctors will simply transfer our super micro chip to one of our clones.
Having the complete memory of our past, resurrection will be like waking up from deep slumber.

That's technically not immortality. All your doing is giving a new human being someone else's memories and appearances but at the end of the day your still dead. You just have passed on your memories and appearance. I believe the only way to achieve immortality is though fame. Being famous is as close as you'll ever be to becoming Immortal. Not in the sense that you'll live forever but in the sense that you'll be remembered. For example, Martin Luther King is immortal. His legacy will live on forever and people will forever know who Martin Luther King was. People with legacies are the closes thing to immortal.

I hope not. Immortality doesn't sound too fun, neither does cloning. Even though I don't believe in religion or whatever, I still think if you're meant to die you should just accept it and die.

It's an interesting theory.
Bad News : it will be most unfortunate for those who are stuck by lightning. One strike and they're dead. And I've only pick up that there will be only one chip to a certain person, so if that chip is gone then the human and it's clone are meaningless. U_U

Good News: Chances of lightning striking a person is low. :)

But I think we should invest into Healing Factors. =DD That way we'll be immune to all disease, we live extraordinary longer because we'll age slowly. Someone could be in their 100's but looks like their 20's or 30's. We can heal our wounds extremely quick. Severed a finger? Well, just reattach it and your healing factor will do the rest. We'll be immune to poisons and drugs, and our body will be highly resistant to certain elemental extremes such as extreme heat or cold. Wouldn't this be awesome!

I see what you're talking about. To be remembered is to live forever. :)

Cases of freak accidents or extreme death like decapitation are one of those things why "Back Up Memory" has to be developed. :)

This is only a theory, I'm hoping this will jump start future brilliant minds. I will not live forever, that's why I'm sharing this. Most of the members here are young, I'm sure one fo you will put my theory into consideration, and someday improve it into more plausible manner.

I don't intend to cross religious borders, but 100 years from now, Immortality will be in every headlines, books and everywhere. That's the human nature, we will always push the boundaries to defy nature. The use of Cloning and NANO technology is like building Water Dams. Harning the power of nature for the greater good of mankind.

Your memory is what makes you .. YOU!
Others call it Spirit.. but actually it's Memory. Without Memory, you can't be anything or anyone else.

Not at all. That's like transfering a memory card from one phone to another. The original phone is no longer functioning. All the memory is on the new phone but if the new phone is still a new phone. The only thing that'll be immortal is your memories. Not you. Just cause someone is given your memories doesn't automatically make you them.

I disagree with you.

Whether you transfer one memory card to another device the purpose of the memory card doesn't change. It still functions as "Memory", it's a matter of purpose.

Physical characteristic may differ, but the memory, regardless where you insert it, will have the same contents. When you save "back files" in your USB, what you are preserving their is the content, immortalizing the content of that specific time.

Yes, but you are talking about content. Materials that never die. If you preserve data in a computer it stays in there forever.A person doesn't live forever. That new clone may hate beer and might be attracted to guys. Does that mean that your gay ?!? It's a different person implanted with memories. I'm a unique human. I may make decisions that you wont when put under the same situations. That's wha makes you different. It's who you are. You aren't just memories that can be transplanted. It's not their memories that make them, but their minds and soul.

alter the DNA , in a way , that it's stable and no information is lost and not altered = immortality.

how it could be possible?

no idea :scorps:

but I myself dont need immortality living 70-80 years of age is enough for me.

I like this concept. It's an awesome idea. Anyways, I think technology is the main source for immortality in this sense. The other sense is like The Beatles, JFK, and so on. Basically, make an impact good or bad, and become famous. You'll be remembered forever.

I think everyone dies eventually. Even the most perfect immortality deal will somehow break. Just my side opinion, but I love the idea and the theories of this.

Also, I thought of agree that technically not the original, but it reminds me of on Mortal Kombat when Shao Khan switched his soul into Nightwolf's wolf in an arcade ending. Shao Khan was transferred. He's still a threat. He's still Shao Khan, you know?

This also relates to Orochimaru. Same guy, just latching on to new hosts.
