I'm still confused....

So bit of an old question that came to mind.....but what the hell was the point for Tobi to act silly, fooling even the Akatsuki? What did he have to gain at all from that? I don't think it was ever really fully explained, and I can understand keeping his status hidden from enemies, but from the Akatsuki, why?

what about kakuzu, hidan, and sasori? Even though Zetsu knew his Identity, he treated him like a new recruit.

heh! you are right about that. what i can say is that they were recruited by pain. and while pain was in charge tobi wasn't in the picture at the time. so he would look like a new recruit to them.

For obvious reasons it was to fool itachi. When Itachi asked him for help in the massacre it didn't show that he had a mask, so I'm guessing he changed his appearance and got a mask to hide from him.

Reason he acted so goofy is unknown. Maybe that silliness is his real persona. Who knows?
