Okay so i'm not in a strop about todays chapter, it was predictable and average but nothing awful, but I am just so tired of meeting characters in exactly the same ways. The elder and younger Sage Sons are absolutely not needed and will drag down the pace even more.

(10 more chapters of THEIR story like Hashirama and Madara yeahhhhhhh awesome) when ultimately their story is already clear and already known to everyone and at the end of the day it's just another retelling of the same Naruto/Sasuke, Hashirama/Maddy, Danzo/Hiruzen story we've already seen a bunch of times. And I GET that this is the entire point of the story, that time repeats itself and this cycle will keep happening until peace is formed but that's a theme you should explore maturely and not shove it in everyones face for the FIFTH time. It's a shame because it's an interesting idea but there's got to be more to it.

Also notice how this is like the Seventh person Naruto has met through the magic plot wonder that is 'magic imaginary mind land'

I'm bored of Naruto magically meeting people from the past in magic heaven flashbacks in between fights to grant him all these huge power-ups and spout exposition at him. Cmon Kishi I get the bigger picture of this story, Naruto even HAD to meet the Sage to be perfectly honest and it doesn't matter how much further back you want to push the timeline of the Narutoverse it doesn't make your symbolism stronger Kishi it makes the story weaker.​

And by the way I almost never complain, I enjoyed this chapter just the direction and handling of the theme (THE ENTIRE POINT WE'RE ALL READING THIS DAMN THING) is being babied.

Here's a crazy thought. Don't meet them at all. Why do we REALLY need to meet the Sage? Do the Brothers really have to be relevant when their story is identical to their clones (hashi/maddy) right before them? We don't NEED any of these characters, especially when the Naruto cast is ridiculously huge and Kishi himself doesn't know what to do with most of the characters scattered round this battlefield, he'll leave a character like Bee or Guy for more than a year and then just pick him up and play with him when he feels like it like a demented doll.

Totally that. I'm cool with him being given a powerup through a significant person of the past (Kushina was so important and remains the only really good example of this shown to date imo) so it's an okay thing to do! But just....not for the sixth time.

The main thing I don't like are the endless friggin parallels Kishi is always trying to shove down our throats. We get it Kishi. I don't care much for the sage's family other than his mother but I don't mind him as long as he doesn't make the plot stray for too long.

I disagree. In fact, Ashura and Indra are absolutely needed. They are the ones who started the 'war' which is still going on. Naruto has to listen to the story of how the disaster began, to be able to stop it once and for all.

Don't jump to assumptions so easily. No one said it was going to be a 10-chapter long flashback.
At the end of the day, those two are the linchpins of this story itself... I find it absolutely normal to know more about them when there really won't be any better time, as the story is heading to its ending.

The thing you call "the magic plot wonder" is what the subconscious/inner world of a Shinobi is. All those meetings you mentioned were crucial and had to happen. I will never understand how that bores you. Those meetings of Naruto and his parents, which at those times no one expected, were both absolutely necessary and breathtaking to watch.
Everybody knew, that we'd be getting to finally see Hagoromo's story along with his appearance and it was very obvious, that it'd happen in the subconsciousness world rather than the real world. With this so-called "plot wonder" Kishi is able to bring us the very core of the story... which, at least for me, is something very important to see, something that many other story-tellers have never really shown us in their respective stories...

Only because Kishi wrote it that way. Madara & Hashirama are fine examples of that already. They're early enough before the formation of the villages. All Naruto seems like now is history lessons, like the audience need to be babied and have every single aspect of conflict 1 by 1 explained to them as if they were stupid.

This is more sacarsm because that's what happened every other time someone spews exposition at a main character. Even though i'm flippantly joking though, I wouldn't be surprised if it did pull a Hashi/Maddy on us and gives us a needless flashback about a story we already know about and know the results of for years (looking at you story of Madara & Hashi)

What I want to know is WHY do you care about these characters? Like genuinely, what reason did some nameless, faceless walking OP man give you to even care about him or his family? As characters there is no intruige there on a personal level and there is no interest in the bigger picture because honestly at this point 'the bigger picture' has been exhausted, why grow to care about these guys when in the future they'll just be replaced (like danzo/hiruzen & maddy/hashi were) by something even older. Maybe a huge flashback into Hagoromo's and his brother? Because that's obviously needed too. Maybe their mum and her rival!? THE CONFLICT GOES ON AND WHERE WILL IT STOP.

I have been given no reason to care about any of these people or what they represent and finding out that Naruto is the reincarnation of (what is essentially) a clone of Naruto does not interest me in the slightest.

Not necessary at all. Literally, the timeline only goes back as far as Kishi deems it to. For all Kishi knows Hashirama's age could've been the first, damn- HIRUZEN'S could've been and it wouldn't have made a difference in the slightest other than save us a whole lot of time.

Call it what you want. It IS a blatant plot device and there's little arguing that. It was cute and good to see it the first few times (Minato & Kushina were great dramatic moments) but it's lost it's wonder from it being the ONLY way Kishi moves the plot on for Naruto Uzumaki. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT go into subconscious to fight dark self and meet mum FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT go into subconscious to meet the jinchuuriki FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT go into subconscious to meet kurama FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT go into obitos subconscious to defeat him FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT die and go into subconsious to meet God and get obligatory power-up.

I have never liked the introduction of the Sage and feel it's lazy cliched writing just in the same way a 'prophecy' is outdated and cheap. Sorry you had to get the bulk of that annoyance aha :')
