Elijah makes his way to the training field, where he found a young student he heard Dan was training in Sound release. He wanted to help him get his Genjutsu training done, in order to get a grasp on Sound Genjutsu as well. Nonetheless, Elijah was clothed in his dark suit, and carried a suitcase with him which contained various amount of scrolls.

"Hello Satoshi, I have heard a lot about you from Dean. I hope you will transfer the same amount of effort to Genjutsu, as it is not merely a tool, but rather an art. Tell me everything you know about Genjutsu, and we'll take it from there."

Elijah says in a stern voice. He enjoyed Genjutsu quite a lot, and it was the one skill he always went all out in.

Well, I know that genjutsu is used to project false images and experiences into the targets mind by disrupting their chakra flow. It can be executed through Dojutsu, physical contact, sounds and through other senses. One of the ways to counter genjutsu is to feel pain from an outside source.

Elijah listens to his student's response, which had quite a few things about Genjutsu, but they were very vague. Elijah already prepared to cover them individually, since it was his specialty.

"Not bad, though still lacking quite a bit of information. Nonetheless, we'll start with the most basic of all. How does Genjutsu work, really? Well, as you said, by disturbing the opponent's chakra flow. This allows the caster to let the opponent experience everything his five senses are capable of experiencing. Like tasting something through the sense of taste, hearing odd sounds through the sense of hearing, etc. You get the point. Nonetheless, to make a person understand it better, one has to look at the default chakra flow.

A normal shinobi's chakra flow is usually calm and balanced, when not affected by an illusion. A perfect balance between the physical and spiritual energies. Once an illusion is cast on someone, their balance between physical and spiritual energies are "scrambled" and disrupted, causing the illusion to take place. This is why those with Doujutsu or Sensory can see when their chakra flow is unbalanced, and then know its an illusion. A Genjutsu is usually induced through a certain trigger, which can vary from Sound, eyesight, hand seals or even light.

This also allows you to sometimes notice when an illusion is cast. And that's exactly where we're headed next. How can you detect that you are in a Genjutsu?"

Elijah asks, having spoken for a while now.

I assume a ninja under Genjutsu would know that they're under the influence whenever they notice any odd circumstances pertaining to their senses. This could be confusing because some senses can be affected by certain ninjutsu such as sound, feeling & sight. Also some sensory ninjas can feel their chakra and others chakra being disrupted. You can also tell if you're in a Genjutsu by using logic and reasoning. Lets say if you're in a plain grassy field at noon then an opponent casts a Genjutsu which places you underwater at midnight with chains around your neck, its 110 percent chance you are in a Genjutsu.

His student actually knew a bit, and this impressed Elijah, who normally had to deal with students who had to be told everything. At least trying was better than nothing. Nonetheless, he would add a bit more information as usual.

"Very good, logic and reasoning are one of the ways one can see that one is in a Genjutsu. As you mentioned, sensors and Doujutsu users are also capable of checking their chakra flow and then seeing that they are in an illusion, if the flow is unbalanced. Very simple, and remember, in order for you to check it, you first have to realize that something isn't right. That's why some Genjustu are some flamboyant, that its easy to know that its indeed an illusion. Anyway, now that we have that covered, what do you know about breaking Genjutsu?"

Elijah asked, now moving fluidly through the more text book kind of information.

Well those who are avid Dojutsu users , lets use the most popular group for example . The Uchiha who use Sharingan, can often break Genjutsu or even use it to reflect it on the Genjutsu caster. Similar to the story of how Itachi Uchiha reflected Kurenai Yuhis , who is a phenomenal Genjutsu user of the leaf, Genjutsu without even putting much effort into doing so. This is due to Dojutsu being able to distinguish reality from illusions and can simply get rid of them. For non Dojutsu users, if they are pretty decent when it comes to Genjutsu they can break a Genjutsu before it fully settles in using "Kai". For those ninja who lack Dojutsu or any Genjutsu experience, they still have saving grace with the pain factor. If they experience a pain from the real world, let's say a sting of a bee. It would instantly snap the victim back into consciousnesses. Also a comrade could break the victim out of a Genjutsu by using Kai. I believe the rarest way of breaking out of Genjutsu is the method in which a Jinjuuriki uses his tailed beast within him as a comrade to break them out due to the bijuu actually being a separate body, just sealed into the human.

Elijah listened to Satoshi, who mentioned most of the ways, but they weren't as clearly defined, so he decided to add a bit more information.

"Very good, releasing a Genjutsu requires one to bring the chakra flow back to its normal state, by resetting it in a sense. Each type of breaking Genjutsu is a bit different, but the result is always the same. It breaks the Genjutsu.

Lets start with the basic one. By producing pain, one alters the balance between your physical and spiritual energies, by disturbing the physical energy. This causes the energy to fluctuate and then reset the chakra flow. The more the pain, the greater the "spike". Some Genjutsu produce pain like effects, but nothing is as real, as the real thing. Here is a small guide as to what amount of pain, can break what rank."

Elijah throws a small scroll.

D Rank Genjutsu: Chipping a Finger (like one does as he bites to draw blood for a Summoning Jutsu)
C Rank Genjutsu: Low level Physical Attacks, Bitting a chunk of your Cheek
B Rank Genjutsu: Low ranked Taijutsu/Freestyle
A Rank Genjutsu: High ranked Taijutsu, Stabbing Yourself in minor muscle, Cutting yourself, Breaking Smaller bones, Low level Burning/Voltage, Painful Cold
S Rank Genjutsu: EIG/Sage level Taijutsu, Breaking Bones, Deep Stabs or cuts, Medium Voltage/Burning, Extreme Painful Cold, Bitting your tongue off
"After that, we got the second way that you mentioned. Through a massive surge of chakra, one alters the balance between your physical and spiritual, by disturbing the spiritual energy. This is done through sheer will, and forces your chakra flow to reset, and then flow again, which breaks the illusion. The most famous method of doing this is through the Kai technique, but we'll cover that in detail a bit later on.

Another way of doing it, is through chakra surges. These are techniques that release a large amount of chakra through all, or most of your tenketsu, all at once. For elemental techniques, the chakra surge used has to be a rank higher than the Genjutsu it intends to break. For example, Chidori Nagashi is A rank, but can only break up to B rank Genjutsu, and so on. For raw chakra surge techniques, it has to be two ranks higher than the Genjutsu it wants to break, so its not really ideal. A bad ass surge is when entering the Eight Inner Gates, this breaks any Genjutsu placed on you."

Elijah then pauses for a while, making it a bit dramatic as he prepares to give the last way of breaking Genjutsu.

"Last but definitely not least, introducing a foreign chakra or energy into your chakra flow, would also reset it. This can be done through an ally using the chakra transfer technique, entering Sage Mode, activating a Curse Mark, or when you are a Jinchuuriki and your Bijuu helps you out. These types of methods can break any Genjutsu, except MS and EMS type of Genjutsu.

Now that you see all these methods, one important thing to remember is that you first have to realize that you are in a Genjutsu, and then using one of the methods. Now tell me, what do you know about layering two Genjutsu together?"

Elijah asked, having explained for quite some time now.

Satoshi rummaged through his tool pouch to find a snickers bar he had bought prior to the training session. He'd begin to unwrap is as he was answering his teachers question.
Basically layered Genjutsu is the use of two or more Genjutsu stacked on each other to further deceive the target. This would confused the target by thinking they have broken the Genjutsu and are in reality but in reality they're in a separate, most likely stronger Genjutsu then the one they had managed to escape from.
He then paused as he finally was able to take a bite out of his candy bar.

They had reached the last part of the theoretical part, and Satoshi knew about it.

"Indeed, very good. Layering Genjutsu is when one casts more than one non-conflicting Genjutsu on an opponent, to deepen it, or make it a bit more difficult to break out of. The maximum amount of Genjutsu that can be layered, are two. Now, a bit more information on Layering Genjutsu. Layered Genjutsu only works when the higher ranked Genjutsu is cast first, and then the second, lower ranking Genjutsu. However, if the weaker Genjutsu is cast first, then the higher ranked one, the higher ranked one (which requires more chakra) flushes out the weaker one. This only leaves the higher ranking Genjutsu.

Releasing from Layered Genjutsu follows the same principles as normal Genjutsu. In order to completely break a Layered Genjutsu, one has to break the higher ranking one (or use the method that would break it). Say its an S rank Genjutsu, and an A rank Genjutsu, breaking it with Kai, with enough chakra to break the S rank, it completely cancels out the Layered Genjutsu. The combination of layered Genjutsu, also just equal the rank of the highest Genjutsu. Lastly, if two conflicting Genjutsu are cast, the higher ranking one prevails and if they are equal in rank, they simply cancel each other out."

Elijah ends his theoretical aspect on Genjutsu. He always enjoyed explaining it.

"Any more questions before we move on to the techniques?"

"Alright, now I'll explain the technique to you, then I want you to perform it, give me at least 2 advantages and disadvantages of the technique, and also, how you would use it in battle. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Now, the first technique is simple, using your chakra, you will cast an illusion on the opponent. In doing so, you will cause the opponent to see the terrain change. This change can be something subtle, like creating an extra tree, or a hole in the ground, or a bit more flamboyant, like changing the entire terrain into a desert from a forest, for example. Its a useful technique, if used right, and requires no hand seals. You know what to do."

Elijah says, as he creates a clone that runs towards Satoshi.

Satoshi would channel his chakra throughout his whole body, implementing a Genjutsu on the clone. He would visually think about changing the terrain from a grassy training ground into an extremely hot barren wasteland. The sun would beam its rays onto the the skin on the clone, stopping it in its tracks in confusion onto how the terrain shifted.
The advantages are that it requires no handseals and that it's effective in a sense that it can throw an enemy off of his senses. A disadvantage is that a decently intelligent person would be able to easily distinguish between reality and an illusion. My reason is that , why would they suddenly be in a different terrain than where they had started. Another disadvantage is that this jutsu is relatively weak, so it can be broken very easily. I'd use this to confuse an enemy and while they're confused, I'd attack them.

"Indeed, good job. Here you go."

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.

"Now, for the next illusion, you will form five hand seal and induce an illusion on the opponent. As you do so, the opponent will see you dissolve into cherry blossom petals, a large amount of them (in the illusion, that is). These cherry petals swirl around the opponent, and obscure his vision, allowing you to attack in reality. This can also be combined with that one Ninjutsu technique, that really creates a bunch of cherry blossoms. Use it against my clone."

Elijah creates a clone that runs towards Satoshi.

As the clone was running towards him, Satoshi quickly wove 5 seals while releasing his chakra into the atmosphere. From the clones point of view, Satoshi began to dissolve into an innumerable amount of cherry blossom petals. The petals would span across the battlefield and most important, reduce the clones sight to only a pink wall of petals.
From Satoshi's perspective, he'd see a highly confused clone attempting to wrap his brain around the situation at hand. Satoshi quickly dashed at the clone , running at a rightward arc and once he got close to him , he'd pull out a kunai and stab the clone in the rib cage.

The advantage of this jutsu is that it "blinds" the enemy from their perspective, but from mine it seems as if they are confused or looking for me inside of a storm of flower petals. This gives me time to attack while the enemy is lost within the realm of cherry blossoms while my head is still in the initial game. The disadvantage is that it would be easy to distinguish from reality since bursting into a plethora of flower petals isn't immediately considered any of the 5 elements, leading an enemy to believe that they are in an illusion, giving them the opportunity to quickly break it. I'd most likely use this jutsu as a distraction to quickly create an opening to attack.

Range: Short-Mid

Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.

"Next, you will form a single hand seal and then induce an illusion on the opponent. You will then throw a paper bomb towards the opponent, but they will see it as a clone advancing upon them. As the paper bomb reaches the opponent, it explodes on impact, and causes quite some damage. This technique is fairly useful, and you can combine it with a real clone, to make it even more versatile. Use it against my clone."

Elijah creates a clone that runs towards Satoshi.

Satoshi would perform a single handseal and release his chakra into the air before rummaging in his ninja pouch for a kunai. The kunai would be exactly like the standard versions, but this one in particular had an explosive tag wrapped around the hilt of it. After Satoshi's chakra tapped into the brain of the clone, Satoshi would project a clone within the mind of the attacking clone. He then threw the kunai in front of the clone dashing towards him feet, but from the clones perspective it would be seeing a clone of Satoshi's blitzing it. As the clone ran over the kunai, the image of Satoshi would fade away with an explosion under the attacking clone.

Useful indeed. This technique can be used in conjunction with actual clones to add realism to the illusion. And advantage is that by the time an enemy realizes that it is an illusion, it would too late for them since my explosive tag would've already detonated and destroyed them. Honestly, I can't think of a disadvantage other than it being D rank. I like this jutsu Lol. I would use this jutsu in a battle situation to fool my enemy by using the "clone" as a distraction. I have a question. So I was thinking of using this jutsu with an illuion clone, would it be legal to have cast the illusion but instead of using an explosive tag, I could use another type of projectile or even a jutsu like chidori senbon ?

"Good, but I think that'd be out of the reach of the Genjutsu technique. Here you go."

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes.

"Next, we have an illusion which is initiated without the need for hand seals. You will induce the illusion, and the opponent will see numerous illusionary clones of yours that emerge from the ground, trees etc. If the clones are attacked, they multiply. You can combine this technique with real clones, and can strategically attack the opponent. Pretty nice technique, use it against my clone."

Elijah creates a clone that runs towards Satoshi.
