Shadow clones are Ninjutsu techniques (B rank) that you have to learn in Ninjutsu training so you can't use 'em yet. You can only use E rank clones. This:

(Bunshin No Jutsu) - Clone Technique
Rank:E
Type:Supplementary
Range:Short
Chakra Cost:5
Damage Points:N/A
Description:A clone made of the user that can move but(cannot use any jutsu)This clone is merely an illusionary projection of the user.
Note:The clone jutsu can be made with different elements and is a D-Rank jutsu under its own element(Mizu/Water Tsuchi/Earth Sumi/Ink)

But it's okay.

She did pretty well this time round. Her approach was more offensive, and she figured out the technique easily. Much like Dean had expected anyway. Dean then smiled, as he threw another scroll.

"Not bad Kate. That technique can be used in a number of ways and is basically best used as a distraction type of technique, where you just fool the opponent into believing it's you, then attack from somewhere else. Also, for your question, no, these clones can only be normal clones and not rock clones (those are seperate for their element). But yes, Rock clones, Water clones and Lightning clones exist. Anyway, here is the technique you just learned."

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

"Now we will be going over the last D rank technique. The technique starts off by forming two hand seals and inducing the Genjutsu upon the opponent. As this happens, it would cause the opponent to see a swirl of leaves surround them, all around. This swirl of leaves then fade away, and after a few seconds, the opponent will see an image of what they fear the most. Now the thing is, many people easily get out of this technique with the notion of, I fear nothing, but you have to make it believable (if you know their fear, don't metagame U_U ). This fear will cause the opponent to faint, basically allowing you to complete the match by delivering the killing blow. An interesting Genjutsu, and depending on how intricate you make it, it's pretty effective. Here we go!"

Dean forms two hand seals, and induces the Genjutsu on Kate. This causes a swirl of leaves to surround her, and then it fades away. Silence is met with horror, as Kate sees what she fears most in this world.. a person, a monster, a certain fate. Whatever she fears, would cause her to freeze and faint after a few moments. Unless she breaks out!

Oh right...sorry :|

I caught the scroll dean threw at me and set it with the rest, Dean then went on explaining the last D-rank technique we were going to do... I hated it already. Whatever lets just get this done. Dean formed two handseals and after a while a swirl of leaves start to surround me. At this point I wasn't too worried, then the leaves started to fade away.

"That wasn't scary at all..... I barely eve .... ..... ...... .... .... .... No .... .... It .... It can't be."

That face... those clothes... the same horrid smirk on his face....the same one. But how did he get here? Is he with Dean? All theses questions were busy flooding my brain as I stood there frozen trying looking at him, trying to understand what was going on.

"How did you get here?"

I don't know if it was because of the fear, but i completely forgot it was an illusion I just stood there trying to convince myself it wasn't true (which it wasn't but I forgot that). He just stood there not saying a word looking at me with his demon eyes. Was he here to finish what he hadn't years back? I just can't figure out what was going on, And why wasn't he attacking me? Why was he just standing there? Why wouldn't he say anything. The more questions I asked myself the more the rage built up in me. I just couldn't. Wait its starting to get dark ... my strength is slowly leaving my body why ... all this because im scared?? No this is not me. As my knees hit the ground I gathered up as much energy as I could and tried to throw a Kunai at him but ended up cutting my hand, It wasn't a deep cut but it seemed to have gotten me out of the Illusion because when i looked up at where he was standing he wasn't there anymore . And then it hit me, Dean didn't do any handseals for wind based techniques and i'm pretty sure no one can control leaves so I could have used that as a way to break out of the illusion and he isn't a puppet controlling ninja so that couldn't have been a puppet and it wasn't real so I could've used that... Come to think of it he was close to me and I couldn't even smell him. It's pathetic, if it wasn't for accidentally cutting myself I'd probably be on the ground fainted.... What am i talking about I can barely even stand I'm still shivering.

"Till we meet again.... be it an illusion or for real, I'll be ready next time."

These were my last words before everything went black . I think I failed but I wasn't too sure

I have a few questions, can you interact with the illusion like if Kate were to touch the image for example would her hand go through or could the person she saw have talked back when she asked how he had gotten there? Also do the effects of this Gen stay active even after you broke out? I'm talking about the fainting now, or do you just regain all your energy once you are out? Wait do you even loose energy while in the illusion ( Just asking cuz people don't just faint.) . And could I have used the fact that you told me it was a gen to break out of the illusion?(i'm not asking this just so i can always use that as an excuse, im just wondering).

Sorry for the late reply, was in Gobabis and Windhoek smh >.>

Dean watched as Kate tried to break out of the illusion. She was fooled by it, and hadn't used her surroundings as before in order to determine that it had indeed been an illusion. Dean smiles, as he thought of how he would break the Genjutsu.. Not that he ever needed to. Nonetheless, he was there to help her out, in order to make her a great student in the arts of illusion.

"Let me start off by answering your questions. Since the technique has no borderline on this, it is indeed possible to make the person in the illusion talk, but just don't milk it too much. The effects of the illusion, in this case fainting, will only be felt if you fail to break out of the illusion and it succeeds. If you manage to break it, you won't faint nor feel after effects. Also, no. You have to break out using reasonable thinking, and then determining whether or not it is an illusion. How is this man here? Where'd he come from? Is he physically here? Can he hurt me? etc."

Dean then looked at Kate, and showed a gesture with his hand.

"Try it again, maybe you'll get it right this time. Use your surrounding and think outside the box..."

Dean then induces Kate with the illusion once more.

All I could do was stand and look at his stupid face, It made me nauseous, I was scared and nauseous. C'mon there must be something , I thought this to myself trying to find a way to figure out how he just appeared out of nowhere, and why wasn't he even attacking me? I know for sure he wouldn't think twice about killing me, is he messing with me maybe? No .. that can't be it. I just couldn't get my head to stop thinking about how he got there, I've never heard of people summoning and he definitely isn't a puppet. No it's all in my head ... In my head ...... In my head . The words I thought echoed in my head and that's when it hit me, It was an illusion,I can be sure because Dean did do two handseals before all this happened. I quickly bit the tip of my left thumb, and the illusion effects quickly wore off... I was back.

"That sucked lets never do that ever again."
"Now then lets move on to the advantages
1.It buys you time to do something to the opponent
2.Its quick because you only need handseals
3.Can be used in "back against the wall situations" (since its quick)
Disadvantages
1.The handseals make it easier to notice its an illusion
2.The handseals also kind of slow it down(would be much more awesome if it didn't have any)
3.The illusion itself has its flaws that make it easier to notice (i)People don't just pop up out of nowhere
(ii)In my case the person in the illusion didn't do what the real person would've done which made me think that it could be an illusion.
"

Thank you for the assist there L :)

She got it right. An illusion can easily be figured out if one uses your five senses or merely think outside the box. Dean clears his throat as he prepares to talk to Kate. His face was welcoming, just to show her that the training had been good so far. Dean then threw the scroll towards Kate.

"Well done, Kate. It's not a bad thing to try more than once. Here you go."

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.

"Now the next technique isn't a Genjutsu, but rather a way to release the Genjutsu. The Release technique or Kai technique. Not only is this technique extremely useful but it can be used in many instances, against a large amount of Genjutsu. This technique works by forming a single hand seal, and disrupting your chakra by forcefully stopping it and then spiking it suddenly, unbalancing your chakra. This immediately releases you from any Genjutsu, except MS genjutsu and Paralysis type of Genjutsu, as your body won't be able to move to make the hand seal. The thing is, the technique works based on a scale:

  • A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank.
  • An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank.
  • A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank.
  • A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank.
Another cool thing about this technique is that you can release an ally from a Genjutsu with physical contact and disrupting his/her chakra, if they can't. Oh, and this technique can only be used after you have figured out that it is a Genjutsu with reasoning and everything. No need to perform it, just ask any questions you have."

As Kate had no questions on the Release technique, Dean simply threw her the scroll. It was an important technique and he hoped that she would know when to use it, since he just taught her the how and when. Nonetheless, Genjutsu was an important part of combat, and so Dean continued to speak.

"Okay then, here is the technique you just learned."

Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

"Now, your first C rank Genjutsu. A simple Genjutsu, where the user starts off by casting the opponent under a Genjutsu without the need of hand seals. This Genjutsu causes an opponent to believe that they are travelling in a straight line, but the opponent is actually moving in circles. This can only be used on moving targets, so it is only effective in the NW, though it could be used in a normal fight, if you are smart enough on how and when to use it. It was used in the manga, during the second stage of the Chunnin exams, causing Naruto and co. to travel in the forest for longer. It is basically used to make the opponent tired. Now run towards me."

Dean then induces the Genjutsu on Kate, causing her to see herself coming towards me, but she is actually still running in circles. This causes her to never reach me, and make her tired, unless she breaks the Genjutsu.

I start running towards Dean at full speed but after about 6 minutes it seems like I'm nowhere near reaching him, which is funny since he's so close I mean like seriously he's right there. What's even funnier is that I keep passing by the same place each time, I know this because earlier when I was scared Dean would kill me I observed my surroundings thoroughly just in case. Well in this case I kept passing by the small pebble I kicked earlier that day while I was describing how to break out of Illusions.

[Flashback time]Before breaking out of a Genjutsu, you first have to figure out you're in it, Genjutsu would be pointless if one could just break out of it like "poof i'm out of the illusion" ..... which is why there are two ways to find out it's a Genjutsu before you break out, one being you literally need to figure out it's a Genjutsu by making a thorough analysis of the illusion you have been put into and finding flaws in it through which you can notice that indeed it is an illusion, this however can be risky as your reasoning might be wrong and its can be slow if the Genjutsu cast on you is a very detailed one. The second way is by sensing the fluctuation of your chakra but this i don't know too much about. What I do know is that this type of Genjutsu detecting depends on your skills because only Doujutsu and sensory ninja's have ways in which to detect the change in their chakra flow.

I kick a little pebble that had been laying close to where i was standing before i continue ( I tend to become distracted when i'm nervous)[Flashback over]
.

Don't judge me, I was scared and anything that I could use against him in case of an attempted attack would do me great help even if it were a pebble, I have trust issues. I also noticed that each time its like I would just be reset back to my position in front of the big rock my rock which led me to think that this Illusion was like some sort of loop. I stopped running and did the Kai technique.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

I then ran to Dean and punched him in the face, and then I went back to my rock and sat on it.

Dean watched Kate analyse the technique, and she was doing quite well. She referred back to a stone that she had kicked, and that she had seen a pattern. This was one of the very obvious ways to break out the illusion. However, she seemed to forget the advantages and disadvantages of the technique, so Dean quickly reminded her.

"Well done, what about the advantages and disadvantages of the technique? How would you use it in battle?"

"Advantages
1.It is quick to cast someone into the illusion (only one handseal)
2.Hard to notice it is an illusion if you aren't very observant
3.Useful against weak opponents
Disadvantages
1.The handseal makes it easier to notice its a Gen
2.If your opponent is observant its sort of easier for them to break out since its just a loop repeating itself.

Like most genjutsu I'd use it as a distraction from my real attack....Oh and can this be layered too?"

Kate quickly did as Dean had asked and they could finally move on to the next technique which was another simple Genjutsu. With a smirk on his face, Dean threw another scroll towards her.

"Alright, that is good, Kate. Here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

"Alright, now the next technique is simple. This Genjutsu is induced through physical contact so it is almost impossible to do in battle, but great for RP purposes. Through physical contact, you will place the opponent in a Genjutsu which causes him to give away delicate information, so this Genjutsu is basically an interrogation tactic. This technique only works on ninjas that are two ranks below yourself in rankings. You use it on my clone, and analyse it. Make the clone tell you.... why Aizen returned!!!"

Dean creates a clone that is an avid fan of Bleach.

After receiving the scroll from Dean I throw it down by the rock with the rest of them.

"I think i'm going to need your bag."

I look at Dean while he explains the next technique he was going to teach me, at least this time I wasn't being cast into one of those horrid illusions, getting out was sooooo much work z.z . "You use it on my clone, and analyse it. Make the clone tell you.... why Aizen returned!!!", Dean then creates a clone which after a while starts moving towards me. I run towards the clone and tap it's shoulder, It would have been cooler if I could hit it or something but then it would just poof away. Anyway after having tapped its shoulder I move very close to it and whisper in it's ear.

"Be a good squirrel and tell me why Aizen is back, Ok?

As his clone starts to tell me why he thinks Aizen returned, I turn my to Dean and flash him and evil grin.I then ask the clone a few more other questions before punching it in the gut causing it to poof away, I got what I needed :snick: ...I walked to Dean walked to Dean and spoke.

"Your clone said this Aizen character was going to go all mayweather on these so called quincies. He also said
"AIZEN IS THE SOLO KING!!!!"
and a bunch of other really annoying fanboy stuff. Now then the advantages of this technique include not having to do hand seals, which make it rather quick to use and the disadvantages would include the whole physical contact thing, which means you have to be in really close range risking damage to yourself from the opponent, and it only works on ninja's two levels lower than yours so completely useless against anyone of higher rank than you. I guess it can be used to make the opponent give away their weaknesses or their village secrets and junk like that.
"

Kate did well once more, and so Dean merely smiled as he thought of the whole clone thing. He was one to make jokes every now and then, who didn't? He tried to make training as nice as possible for the student or at least he tried to. Nonetheless, another scroll flew through the air towards Kate which contained the technique that Dean just taught her.

"Well done, remember, the physical contact must be kept throughout the technique. Other than that, here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.

"Now the next technique is a rather simple one, but extremely effective if used right. The technique starts off by deducing the Genjutsu upon the opponent, without the need of hand seals. This is done quickly, which then causes the opponent to see a large fireball descending from the sky and then continuing to envelop the opponent. This technique can be used to divert the opponent's attention to the sky as you pull off a technique that comes from beneath the opponent. Or even use a real fire technique, so they break the Genjutsu and be surprised with a real fire!"

Dean then induces the Genjutsu on Kate, causing her to see a large fireball descending from the sky. As it comes down, it illuminates the field and causes her to shift her attention there. Whilst she is in the Genjutsu, Dean sends a clone to hit her. It dashes in an arc to her right.

The sky turns to a lovely mixture of both orange and red and as I look up i'm almost mesmerized by the its beauty, I swear if it weren't for the giant fireball heading straight for me I would've just been standing there looking at the sky. Now at this point i had gotten pretty used to the whole getting out of of illusions thing and it didn't take me long to notice this Illusion was pretty much similar to the first technique we did, it just messed with my sight but left all the other senses in tip-top working condition. Now the way I figured this out is he didn't do and fire style handseals, heck this guy didn't do any handseals at all which got me thinking that this fireball had to be an illusion. Also although I could see it, it wasn't behaving like it had to (bad fireball...tisk tisk),there wasn't any heat coming from it, it was "close enough" to be giving of some kind of heat but it didn't and I couldn't even hear the fireball, I mean if something is going to be falling from the sky like that it's supposed to at least make a sound, all I could hear was leaves rustling in the cool breeze. I then stood back and performed the kai technique.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release

After I was out of the illusion I noticed something or rather someone coming towards me quite swiftly from the right so I concentrate earth chakra within me and release it into the ground which caused a slight quake causing Dean's clone (I could clearly see it now) to loose it's footing and fall to the ground face first. Now normally this wouldn't do anything but since he was coming at me with great speeds, he faceplanted pretty hard into the ground and poofed away.

The advantages
-it works as a distraction.
-buys you a very little amount of time but that could be all you need.
-no handseals so its quick.
Disadvantages
-The no handseals gives it away.
-only messes with one sense.
-easy to break out of.

sorry for taking so long.....I thought I had replied, I only saw today when I was going through my subscribed threads

It was no problem for Kate, as she quickly realised that it was a Genjutsu, with a single hand seal, she broke the technique and defeated the clone. Dean threw another scroll towards her.

"Great job, here you go."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

"Now onto the last C rank technique (finally). It all starts off with inducing the opponent in a Genjutsu without the need of hand seals, which will cause the opponent to see an illusionary clone dash towards the opponent. Once they get close to the opponent, the clone will jump and explode into a cloud of cherry blossom petals. This confuses the opponent and leaves them open for attack. Here we go."

Dean induces a Genjutsu on Kate.

I catch the scroll and put it down by the rest, quickly afterwards I shift my attention back to Dean who starts to explain the last C-rank technique we were going to do.

Here we go.
Suddenly what appears to be a clone of Dean starts to run towards me at a rather great speed. I simply smirk as I already deduced that this was an illusion. I made a list in my head of all my observations.
1.He didn't do any handseals and one requires handseals to make a clone
2.The clone just appeared out of nowhere,no smoke upon appearance, nothing at all.
I was now ready to break out off it but just as I was about to, the clone reached close range, jumped in the air and burst into a cloud of cherry blossom petals.
3.Clones do not do that.

I proceeded to do the Kai technique

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

and looked at Dean for some sign of approval.

Advantages
-no need for handseals
-quick to cast
-Can help buy a little time

Disadvantages
-No handseals,makes for easy deduction
-easy to break out of.

Kate does well once more, and allows them to continue forward with the B ranks. Anyway, Dean grabs another scroll, and throws it towards Kate. They were moving forward.

"Well done, use a more RP way though >_>."

Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

"Anyway, the next technique is one we already covered, albeit, a more advanced version. After the formation of 3 hand seals, you will induce the opponent in a double layered Genjutsu which only changes the surroundings (like the D ranked version). If the opponent manages to break the first illusion, the second illusion will still be present, so you can basically make a forest with the first Genjutsu, and layer it with a desert as the second Genjutsu. If the opponent breaks the first, he will see the forest fade away to a desert (which he would think is real, a bad example though, just to get the gist of it). Anyway, each of the Genjutsu is C rank, both are B rank which means if the opponent breaks the Genjutsu with a powerful enough trigger, both can be broken simultaneously. Analyse it for me."

I have analysed it ...I have a question? Could I make both layers of the illusion a desert for example?

Really sorry, by analyse I thought you just meant read through with understanding. Anyways my analysis.

The technique is very useful if you need to buy yourself some time to perform an offensive technique against your opponent due to the fact that although your opponent can easily break through the first layer, they might take a while to break through the second one especially if both the first and second layers are there same,(e.g. Desert, Desert.). It does have a few faults though being as it only affects your opponents eyesight leaving all other senses working in perfect condition thus making it easy to deduce and escape from. The two layered C-rank illusions thus make it a B-rank jutsu, and escaping both layers simultaneously would require you to for example break your finger or any other low ranked Taijutsu/Freestyle, using low level physical attacks would only help you escape the first layer which would mean you would need another low level physical attack to break out of the second one too, in other words the trigger has to be one of B-rank at least using anything higher would also help but that would just be lethargic as you would be unnecessarily injuring yourself, thus giving your opponent the upper hand.

She analysed the technique with ease, it was a simple Genjutsu after all. Dean looked into his bag for the scroll of the technique. It was Kate's first double layered Genjutsu, she would encounter quite a few in her journey as a shinobi.

"Great job, here you go."

Type: Supplmentary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
The user will do a sequence of 3 handseals, putting his opponents under a double layered Genjutsu. The user is able to create false surroundings to fool his targets, much like the simpler version of the technique. However, the illusion is in fact layered. If the opponent manages to release the first one, he will then feel the effects of the second illusion. If, for example, the first illusion is that of a desert and the second that of a forest, upon releasing the first one, the opponent will see the desert fade away while the forest appears around him, making him think he dispelled the illusion while in essence he is still caught in one. Each illusion is equivalent to C-Rank and both are casted at the same time. While normal releases will release only one illusion at a time, a strong enough pain or an external source of chakra can dispel both at the same time.

"The next technique is a simple one, where you will use your sword to induce a Genjutsu on the opponent by simply waving it back and forth. This can only be done in short range by the way. Anyway, in the Genjutsu, the opponent will see you have many arms that swing around, much like how a willow tree blows in the wind. As this distracts the opponent, it allows you to strike! Of course, using the sword would be preferable in this situation, but Taijutsu and fast Ninjutsu techniques can also be used. Use it on my clone."

Dean creates a clone and throws a sword to Kate. She must use it wisely O_______________O

Dean throws me a sword and I quickly grab it out of he air. It's not long before a Dean clone starts dashing towards me swiftly, I'm barely given any time to start swinging my sword as I see a fist flying towards my face so I quickly react by dodging his attack and jumping a few feet back, this however proves to be useless as Dean's clone stays on me like white on rice continuously throwing punches and kicks my way and all I'm doing is trying to evade his attacks, unsuccessfully if I may add as a few of his attacks went through quite well. In the midst of this chaos however I came up with an idea, I wasn't quite sure it was going to work but it was all i had in mind so I went ahead with it anyways. As I dodged the clones attacks I swung my sword across his face making sure not to hit him, he retreats by jumping back a few steps. I quickly use this opportunity to start fluidly waving my sword back and forth, he dashes toward me and once again sends his fists flying, but this time I notice that for a moment his eyes leave my face and he seems confused so i continue dodging his attacks and whilst doing so I continue waving the sword just across his face ( it's like I'm playing flappy bird : dodge, wave, dodge, wave, wave, dodge, dodge, dodge, wave, wave ,dodge, wave.) The clone throws yet another punch but this time is completely distracted so very quickly I dodge and lift my knee towards his gut causing him to poof away in a cloud of smoke.

"Was that ok sensei?"
