[Discussion] Ikemoto 20 chapters in???

Ok so now that we are 20 chapters deep, just wondering what the general opinion is on Ikemoto's artwork compared to:
• Ikemoto in chapter 1
• Kishimotos work throughout Naruto
• SP's character designs in the anime

For some reason his characters in the manga continue to look awkward to me no matter how much I try to get over it. Its not because im used to Narutos manga work, there actually is just something about the artwork that I cant help but find unsettling, am I alone in this?

He knows how to draw his own new characters. But when he tries to draw lishi characters he’s bad at it. Look at KARA ans Ao they all look good. Then look at boruto sarada konohamaru they all look bad.

I feel as though the story is good, and based off future hype and powers deeping the kaguyas threats is cool

I prefer kishi cloth and hair style for the characters in boruto. But it is what it is. If he wants to draw 12 year olds with upskirts high heels and big breast go ahead

For the simple fact that those characters weren't originally HIS creations to begin with.He's building off of someone else's platform.

Which is my point, he has no good intentions for the main characters.

Never thought about it like that but damn I really hope Naruto doesn't die haha

I think he's improved a bit since the 1st chapter. However, the way he draws action scenes is underwhelming and even confusing. ...And also for some reason most of Kishi's characters (Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki etc).. they all have fatter faces or something? I guess to show they are more youthful? It just seems weird. Anyway yeah. Chapter 1 was not great Chapter 20 was better compared to that.

The artwork could be better Ikemoto can actually draw if he so chooses. I've seen some of his novel artwork it's brilliant, if he was drawing art of that quality I'd understand the once a month release of chapters. But his line art isn't that so it makes no sense to me, Boruto is fugly and Ikemoto draws him like he should his outfits(females) aren't the best and can be a lot better.

The bigger problem is the aub standard writing, it's aubll aubllbout Burito now the other ninja, team mates and everybody under the sun don't matter.

Ikemoto does a great job imo. He’s no Kishi but I love the way he draws Sarada and his Boruto has gotten noticeably better. He still draws Sasuke a little off but im getting used to it. Overall I think he’s getting better. I expect that he will bust out some amazing work as the series progresses.

When you compare it to how he was in the beginning he's made huge progress. You can really see that he's spent years working as just an assistant for Kishi considering how he doesn't really use the G-pen nib all that much (a pen tool used to make bold strong lines of varying thickness which Kishi used a lot for his characters) and seems to use the other pens. That's what I think is going on since his lines for the characters are quite dull and shaky.

He's quite good at coreography and storyboarding in general though. Give him a couple more chapters and he'll really get into the style. Ofcourse, there's still the problem of his pedo designs and weird curly hair for Sasuke and Sarada but one can only hope he fixes that as he goes along. Hopefully the anime sticks to Kishi's designs and doesn't go for the horrible heels, skirt combo.
