That depends.
If I was a Konoha shinobi, and I was aware of how important Naruto is, then I'd see that it's my duty to defend him since he's the Jinchuriki. It might kill me, but that's what being a shinobi is about; protecting the village and the other villagers.
However, if I was a shinobi from another village, such as Kumogakure, I would not be willing to spare my life for Naruto. Even if I'm on the same battleground in the Alliance, whilst I'd prefer to guarantee the safety of me and the Jinchuriki, it wouldn't be my fault if he dies. He's not a member of my village, so I wouldn't have total responsibility over him.
