Actually Oro was almost at the end of his 3 years for that body remember? That's why he needed Sasuke's body so soon afterwards. So he probably wasn't full power then.

i think i remember that now, he planed on taking sasuke as a host as soon as the sound 4 brought him to the base, i thought that was partly because of his arms rotting but yeah he can only do the switch once every 3 years so either way he wasn't full power.

orochimaru sucks, and thats why he's dead now, he indirectly killed an poor old dude, that actually manage to take most of his techs in the process, kyubi was basically going to tear him to peaces if he hadn't escaped. jiraiya will never fight him full force, oh did i mentioned he was a freak of nature..oh yeh he sucks lol

have to say I've been enjoying this "whitty" banter. I would like to take a moment and point out a few things though.

1) Jiraiya was fought by Oro in a weakened state himself as he was still recovering from Tsunades poison and wasn't "able to form chakra" properly.
2)Oro is very much like the snakes he uses/emulates he is an attack and recoil fighter. This is why he uses IWR and the bites. This is also why when going against 4 tailed Naruto he was constantly retreating.He was just out of his element and looking for an opportunity.
3) This is for the two debators The Choji issue with the pills is that he did not have them when going into the test but was given them after. He stated duringthe chase to Shikamaru that he now had the families pills and was warned not to go to the red one.

As for being a push-over I think Orochimaru was a skilled ninja who was overconfident in his own abilities and therefore cocky. This led to a lot of mistakes and the need to have Kabuto around to help correct them. and before anyone says that he didn't always have Kabuto around, that is true, however before Kabuto he had the other Sannin as he was part of the three man team.

I can't see Deidara or Sasori beating Orochimaru, maybe Kakuzu but you have to remember he can regenerate from almost any wound and has alot of awesome jutsu like triple Rashomon to block Kakuzu's elemental attacks. I don't know though man he's a mystery because he either didn't really fight himself or was sick the whole time. Examples: Fights against the 3rd, Jiraiya, Sasuke, Naruto. He was sick in 3 of those and didn't really do anything other than IWR in the other.

Oro is overrated, the only reason he survived 4 tails naruto is because naruto did'nt have control he was just blasting everything in sight. Against the current naruto, he would last less than 5 seconds. Also, so what if he beat the kages? So did sasori(3rd kazekage) and deidara(gaara). Besides, i would'nt really call what happened with the 3rd hokage 'beating' and i'm sure he just used some cheap trick to own the 4th kazekage as well.

Sannin? so what? the guy who gave that titlt(hanzo) just got his ass owned by mifune so i think the sannin thing is outdated .

in Naruto orochimaru was the perfect villain, he even was extremely cool too.... but When everyone grew up Orochimaru became less and less cool as a villain, i personally think his time has come and gone. orochimaru isnt a real concern now, even kabuto still isnt a real threat... he stole some bodies and is trying to control them, but hell they are still to strong for him to control, he overestimated his powers and soon will fall like all the other petty villains.

id go as far as to say that orochimaru is still greater than kabuto in every way, but would get smashed by the following any day : might guy, rocklee, naruto, sasuke, neji, killa bee, pain, itachi (again) kisame, danzo, gaara, raikage, kakashi, sasori, hidan, kakuzu, yamato, jiriyah, konan, and others.... my point is that orochimaru became a nobody Fast in shippuden.

The only people out of Akatsuki who would beat him are Pein and Itachi. He had tons of powerful followers the only thing that made him weak was the fact that he lost his more powerful jutsu in the fight with the 3rd and his body was always failing him after a few years.

if you folks dont remember, oro is stuck in itacihs mangekyo's sword. and now sauski has his brothers eyes. so dont count out oro yet. we may see more of him.

oro had to be the best ninja if it wasnt for his over ambitiousness, and besides imagine all the compound chakra he has gained from transfering from one body to the next. I personally think that if it wasnt for sharingan users orochimaru would be the strongest considering he diddn even bother capturing any of the tailed beasts due to the fact that he knew he could probabbly beat them once he had reached a particular level

Or he didnt go after the tailed beast because he knew he couldnt capture them. And if it werent for sharingan users Minato (along with the first 2 hokages) would still be the best.

Im a big fan of the sannin (yes even tsunade, she makes the manga fun) but just to play the devils advocate what makes a sannin a sannin? the only way the even have those titles is because they survived a fight with Hanzo. Sooo.......

Oro was definitly not a pushover, he was so badass and we dont even know the true extent of his power. I think Jiraya is awesome but based on what we have seen and on reputation I would say he coudv probably beat Jiraya. I know this might be pushing it but Pain himself said Jiraya could have beatin him so maybe Oro could have also beaten him

I agree on all that other than the thing tha oro would kill jiraya..It would be a tough one yes, but I don't see how oro would escape from inside the rock frogs mouth..although if he has that sword of kusanagi(?) then it could be possible since it pierces almost anything

Orochimaru is not a pushover in no way but you people are giving him way too much credit,
he is only on the level of Kakashi not saying he is weak or anything .

The only people in Akatsuki I see Orochimaru defeating is:

Hidan because he could decapitate him with the sword of Kusanagi or just swallow him and take his body.

Zetsu because there is not enough known about him.

Konan although she is no pushover herself.

Sasori even though it would be a great fight and I think Oro would be severely poisoned and would need healing from Kabuto or tsunade again.

Thats it because everyone else would trash Oro IMO:

Madara would trash Oro for obvious reasons.

Nagato/Pain would trash Oro for Obvious reasons.

Itachi did and will trash Oro again if they encountered for obvious reasons.

Kisame would drown Orochimaru and Manda in that giant water ball.

Deidara would bombard Oro with bombs from like a mile in the air whether or not he's on Manda or not.

Kakuzu is too much for Orochimaru with all five of his elemental jutsus Oro can heal from most things but not all and he is limited to the amount of times he can shed his skin due to it being a chakra taxing jutsu.

This is my opinion I am about to make a thread about who in akatsuki can beat Orochimaru.
