.....the curse of hatred had started and continues due to jealousy!
Just think for a second...
Uchiha Madara might have wanted to protect his clan from Senju oppression, but he also wanted to become Hokage of Konoha. The entire village chose Hashirama, and his own clan agreed! If you really interpret his personality from the manga, you can see that Madara has a deep sense of loathing and hatred for Hashirama which is on more of a personal level.
Who made Uchiha Sasuke realise that his efforts for revenge against his brother had been inadequate? The first thing Sasuke thought about when he woke up in that hospital was all the new powers Naruto had acquired. After all, it was Naruto, not Sasuke, that defeated Gaara, and Sasuke was in awe the entire time of the fight! It was because of Naruto, that Sasuke decided to acquire power any way possible!
The curse of hatred, is really hatred for the descendants of the younger son!
