You people sure make a HUGE deal about manga and 'telling' people about it. This is probably an umpteenth thread I have seen about this topic. Why does it matter?

I'm a hypocrite. I can admit it.

It's hard to explain. Like... I would never discuss Naruto IRL. It would just feel weird to me.

It's not like I walk around with a Naruto t-shirt on and a volume in my hand. These guys have been my buddies since before I read manga, of course they're my real friends.

If you like manga and anime enough to join a forum to talk about it on, that you visit frequently you clearly like it a lot. Also I never used the word "real friends", I said they must not be too good of friends.

Your friends should at least know your interests, that's apart of being friends. If you've just hung around each other for a long time and don't really know each other, are you really friends?

Clearly there's more to your being than just anime or manga, just food for thought.

Honestly no one I have met reacts badly to me reading Naruto. I don't go around talking about it, but if it comes up or a similar topic approaches I tell people I read/follow it. I'm not ashamed of liking Naruto and none of my closest friends/gf aren't bothered by it.


Edit: In fact my roomate is here everytime I visit and post on this site. He doesn't give two shits.

I wouldn't go around telling people. If I see two people in my class or at work already talking about it, I'll tell them I follow the series and we could have a small conversation about it.

Otherwise, no one would know because I don't really care.

I tell people and usually they don't downgrade me, it is a matter of entertainment.
Just my mom sometimes say it is a little childish taste, No other person haven't said something much too discriminating or ridiculing on this matter, and i would not care what someone who takes these contexts out to be something to downgrade or make fun of would say seriously.

But on the flip side in Japan it is hot reading it. But in the USA.

It is like soccer in the USA some places if a few it is hot. But in USA american football ,basketball and baseball dominates in crowd attendance.

But as a guy, it will be harder, no would really care if a girl would do this. It is hot for a girl to be different but on the flip more weird for a guy at a certain age.

I doubt anybody that I know reads manga, and I don't talk about it in school. It would be nice to know that a few of them do, but still I wouldn't talk about it in school.
