Titanic wouldn't have met its fate if it wasn't for the crew that made so many mistakes back then so maybe Tendo just wanted to prevent this from happening thats a nice choice :] .. What im trying to say is that it wasn't the iceberg that hit Titanic it was Titanic that hitted the iceberg ^^. Btw love the topic since i like history and that's prolyl one of the things im going to seriously study in the future So far i see some nice choices...

The main reason why the Titanic sunk was due to a construction error that resulted from being cheap asses when building the ship.
