There's things the anime added in that fleshed out Shikamaru's character that I wish were manga canon.

During the Hidan and Kakuzu fight, Sakura went into flashbacks about a conversation she overheard between Shikamaru and Asuma. Shikamaru was specifically requested to be one of the guardian 12 shinobi, but he declined because that'd mean leaving everyone behind, and he couldn't handle the thought of his friends ever needing him without him being there.

This helped in establishing about Shikamaru that:

1. His potential is acknowledged by the higher ups
2. After he failed his task as leader in the Sasuke retrieval mission and he felt guilty over how his friends ended up returning barely alive, he felt like he should quit being a shinobi altogether, but he's taken his father's words to heart about needing to be there for his friends and that he's extremely loyal to them

Also, just... Shippuden ep 82, where we actually see him having a breakdown over Asuma's death. The mood of the episode is something completely different than what you'd normally expect from a Naruto episode but it's so effective. It's what ended up making me the most emotionally upset in this series and I can't believe that it's filler.

Shoutout to everything about his interactions with Temari in Shippuden episode 7. Her telling him to hurry up and become a jounin here just makes sense, especially with how now her most recent line in manga canon is saying that he'd make a good Hokage. Also coughs shipping.

As for something not involving Shikamaru? Well I love Anko so having that whole filler arc where we went more in depth into her backstory be canon would be nice because then she'd actually be relevant.

Probably the one where that chick, er.. Shizuka? Was to be married to Naruto because of some fight. Naruto could get some pu$$y, prove that he isn't gay for Sasuke, and not be with Hinata all in one.

Hah hah, no. Maybe that arc where Naruto guys infiltrate sound village, meet the Fuma clan...I saw it when it was on Cartoon Network, but there was that little girl who connected her heart to Naruto's and squeezed it.
