reading some of these comments make me think. Plato told the metaphor of the ring of gyges (which was an inspiration to both the lord of the rings and green lantern) about a small innocent sheaperd that finds a magical ring that can make him invisible, so he proceeds to kill the king, seduce the queen and crown himself the new king. Plato said with that that humans would very much want to rape kill and force their whims on everyone but what stops them is the fact that there would be repercussions after that. it's not that we are good hearted humans and care about other people and thats why we don't do it, it's because we will be punished that we don't do it. which brings me to the conclusion that you are horrible human beings right now :eww:
I was kidding about the rape thing, and your quote couldn't be further from the truth. I feel legitament guilt that keeps me from harming others for my own gain, it has nothing to do with consequences.

let me ask you this, lets say you would get a time machine, and you could erase ever action you did in the upcoming week. like literaly it would not have happened (maybe even you will not remember doing it). would you rape or kill or steal a car?
maybe you wouldn't. but the majority of people would do it lol
maybe i exaggerated a little, but still a lot of people would do those stuff if they knew they wouldn't be punished. take all the convicted rapists, add around 15% to that number. and you get a rough estimate of how many would rape given the situation i set.
