I thought about that too. I guess it was just Kishi trying to show this guy is a goofy bastard, therefore you would think he's the last guy who would lead Akatsuki. But even still, there is no denying that Tobi was the actual leader the whole time.

What good is it if he's just fooling around. I don't think thats a barely valid reason.

In that scene, it was only Zetsu and Tobi. So why would he need to act like he's new if Zetsu already knew.

Rehearsing just doesn't make sense to me in this. It doesn't really fit in with Naruto itself.

If by plot, you guys mean, just to trick us/suspense etc, I think its plot then
