If there weren't any White Zetsus present for Edo Tensei sacrifices...

Do you think Sasuke would have killed Suigetsu and Jugo and used them as sacrifices? Or would he let Orochimaru kill them and do nothing? He certainly didn't hesitate in stabbing Karin through the chest.

If we know that then that would mean he would have to go hunting for a victim anyway, so if he would already be in the process of looking for fodder y would he purposefully sacrifice allies without real need.

Sasuke could have just went Zetsu hunting

Orochimaru knew that they needed sacrifices and he knew that Sasuke had Zetsu spores on him. If there weren't any Zetsu spores then they would've picked up sacrifices on the way. Also Orochimaru didn't know how many Zetsu spores there was, so maybe he had a back-up plan.
