There's been news that a live action screen adaptation of The Last of Us is in the works, which is pretty freakin' cool. If you could make the cast of characters, who would you pick for the major characters?

My list would be(Leaving out Marlene, Sam, Sarah, and Bill because their voice actors could play them perfectly in live action.)

For Joel, I'd cast Dylan McDermott.

I doubt there's any actor out there that looks like Joel more than the American Horror Star does. In facial features, facial hair and physical build, he also has shown to be able to capture the emotional distance, moral confliction and violent nature of Joel in his roles in American Horror Story. If Troy Baker was made for his voice, Dylan was made for live action.

For Ellie, I'd cast Maisie Williams.

I haven't seen much of Game of Thrones after early season 2, but from what I know, she travels with the Hound and kills people with him. It's probably a bit of typecast here, but I think she can play the role of Ellie well from what I've seen and heard.

Joel's partner in crime Tess could be played by none other than Emily Blunt.

I admittedly thought Emily played Tess in the game for a while. Her roles in Looper and Edge of Tomorrow shows she can play the emotionally vulnerable yet violently badass Tess.

For Joel's brother Tommy, Jared Padelecki is a natural choice for me.

Born and raised in Texas like Joel and Tommy, the Supernatural star is no stranger to the role of the younger brother with struggles and pains of rolling with his violent, troubled older brother, as well as being the level headed one of the duo. We're back to a bit of typecast here and there's a slight issue in height difference between him and Dylan(Joel should be taller than Tommy, but that's flipped her), but look at godly hair and how well he would fit in the role.

Every time I see Henry in The Last of Us, the only person I can picture is Donald Glover.

His personality and demeanor is practically identical to Henry's. I can't see anyone fitting the role better than Childish Gambino.

Last but not least, David. And who better to play David than
Robert Downey JR.

No, I haven't lost my marbles yet. Robert has that friendly, gentlemanly quality to him that David has at first, and he's got the acting chops to pull off the sinister side. Either him or Edward Norton, either is highly sufficient. Probably the latter. But I think it'd be fun to see one Stark kill the other near the end of the movie.

Liam Neeson is not a good choice for Joel.
LOL She has the looks down

But of course there are multiple factors in pulling off a character good.
She also expressed being less than pleased that Ellie looked like her in the first place.

I'd rather they not make a live action film. Playing the game itself is much more enjoyable than seeing it possibly getting ruined.
If anything I'd like to see a DLC sequel to the game or another DLC prequel like Ellie had but about Joel right after the death of his daughter.

I actually had tons of ideas about a prequel set in a time skip and a friend supported me writing about it, so I plan to

It's to bad Ellen Paige is to old for the part because she would make the absolute perfect Ellie.

I think Josh Brolin would be a great Joel he has that southern draw down perfect that Joel has.

Or maybe a Hugh Jackman? He's a great actor can play the intense Joel that kicks butt but can also give that vulnerability that Joel needs. And Hugh would give it star power which wouldn't hurt it.

I think getting Joel and Ellie right and keeping the story as close to games are the most important things. If they get those down it will be great but it's Hollywood so they won't stay as close to the story of the game as they can so it will probably be terrible.

I love Ellen page but I doubt she would consider working with them. She was quite upset when they rendered Ellie's face to resemble her, Naughty Dog had to remodel Ellie's face to avoid a lawsuit
