I say Jushiro Ukitake, despite his illness he would still be the most senior captain and still one of of the strongest.

However I would like for Shinji to be the next CC, despite how he looks it is obvious that he is one sharp SOB.

I can see Ukitake kicking the bucket at some point, but there's no chance we'll see Shunui die after just taking on the roll.

But, if it were to happen, I think its almost guaranteed that Byakuya would take the position. He's from one of the noble houses, has family history within the Gotei 13, is one of the most experienced Captains, one of the stronger Captains, and has strong leadership qualities.

Given that CC should be responsible for Soul Society, Byakuya is the best choice. Power and strength wise he might be behind a few, but the way he maintains his cool is tense situations and that makes him the best leader !
