...and its here the decision to unite the two clans was made. Had Madara refused there, then I don't see the uchiha clan to be in any position to fight Hashirama, Tobirama and the senju clan. They would've been annihilated.

Hashirama didn't have EMS at that time. Hashirama fought an MS Madara with cell pain due to overusing it and won using his strongest techniques. Hashirama thought young uchihas are capable of being a threat to him even.

Well EMS Madara too lost to him despite having kyubi at his side. But that's not the point. This thread is not about who was stronger between Hashirama and Madara but about the two clans's union. We both know when that happened and at that time Hashirama had every opportunity to kill Madara and wipe out the uchiha clan had Madara refused and the uchiha chose to fight.

Well the Uchiha clan would no longer exist as they would mostly be wiped out with the remaining few possibly becoming Senju. Knowing Tobirama's hate for them however, the latter becomes a stretch.
