One piece? Really? I don't watch One piece, but didn't Nami and Nico Robin were kidnapped in different arcs, did they? The male heroes had to saved them... Not to mention, Nami is the classic punching heroine...
FMA?? I did watch that anime, are you talking about Winry? What did she do but repairing Edward? She was kind of the "healer", but only for the main character.
Nope. Winry was support admittedly but...her job was a mechanic, she shouldn't have even really got wrapped up in everything. FMA is FULL of emotionally/physically strong and independent leads who don't follow the norm. Lt.Hawkeye, Lan Fan, Olivia Armstrong (s c a r y) and Izumi Curtis, hell even their mother seemed like a really interesting character. Kishi can't hide behind manga stereotypes and he actually doesn't defend Sakura in interviews.
Soul Eater would be a valid example if Maka wasn't the Protagonist of the series, she is the Main Heroine, so it is reasonable that she is strong as her comrades. Even though, i remember her throwing Black Star a book in his face, and getting angry with Soul in a humorous way, so she has some of the typical heroine as well...
Attack on titan is not a main stream shounen anime, and I think Soul Eater isn't either... right?

She did that like twice and i'm not even really talking about Maka. Liz, Tsubaki, Medusa and the 2 Death Scythes were above that.
Ok, i wasn't talking about female characters, but the heroine of the series... that's why i only focused on them in my reply... There are several strong, not bossy, and not humoristically aggressive female characters inside Naruto...

If Kishi wants to let bad stereotypes write his manga for him then of course he's going to have a weakly written female lead. There's a reason she's the most bashed character in the entire series.

That's OK, that's an opinion, personally i don't think she is hated for being a "poorly written character", if this was the case people would hate every single Main Stream Shounen Heroine, and they don't...

Yes it's very much an opinion, but also note that not every shonen female lead are clones, Shiemi, Maka, Winry/Hawkeye, Nami and Rukia for example all have many different roles in the manga and bring their own characteristics to the table- Sakura's specific progression has more negative than positives and whenever she does get development it's just sudden on the spot like it was forgotten last minute...and then never seen again. Her personality is still...I dunno, Maka never played with somebodies romantic feelings for her own gain and knocked out all her friends to seek out murder. Let's just put it like that.
I respect you're putting up a good argument for Sakura though, she's one of my least favourites but definitely one of my favourite characters to discuss, even if i'm on the negative end 7 times out of 10.
People would still hate her, don't care about the haters, enjoy your character with other fans. You can't please haters. They will just find the smallest thing to bish about like her hair being messy

Sakura has an original role too, Sakura is the person Naruto is openly in love with, and the reminder of the promise he made, she represent the doubt, the fear, the insecurity in the story.
She did play with Naruto feelings but just because she was trying to protect Naruto. She realized Sasuke cannot be saved, that keeping him alive will bring a chain of hatred that will keep going for generations, unless one of the sides swallow their pride and decides to end it for good and stop searching for revenge (Shikamaru explained it better).
To do so, she tried to release Naruto from their promise, and Sasuke as well, it would be just too selfish from them continue to protect Sasuke, giving the fact he is an International Criminal, wanted dead or alive in the five nations...
She is not the cold-hearted b**** that people claim she is, this is what actually happened:

But there IS controversy. To protect somebody or not, this was a VERY twisted way of going about it. She didn't have to confess her love to Naruto, she's apparently smart and could've come up with anything different.
With other female leads it's just that you don't get that controversy at ALL. Shiemi, Maka, Nami- they're likeable all the way through whilst still having their own development and plot twists. In that lies the problem and maybe the initial reason people dislike Sakura (except for the fact that Kishi wrote her that way on purpose)

I think Sai explained it very clearly... Yes, people can be mad at her for lying to Naruto, nevertheless they decided to ignore all that Sai said after...
Maka is not from a main steam shounen, if she was, she wouldn't be the protagonist, and the anime would keep coming every week.
Nami, has great difference and great similarities with Sakura:
-Their bodies are REALLY different, Nami clearly has a great pair of t..., i mean body, and fans love that in a heroine.
-They are both the bossy-aggressive humorous heroine.
-They are not at the same level as their mates
-They support the team in other way than fighting
-They got saved sometimes...
-There is a chance for them to end up with the main hero, BUT there is not much competition for Nami, i mean, there is no Hinata in One Piece, right? (please correct me, i don't watch One Piece)
Why would she need to fight another female? *** doesn't really matter when it becomes to being a ninja. For example Tsunade physically strongest ninja despite being a woman.
I already find Sakura somewhat of a bad ass. She didn't have any bloodlines or beasts in her, like Sasuke and Kakashi have the precious sharingan (which I absolutely despise) and Naruto has the kyuubi, but Naruto did have to work on getting the beast under his control.
But yeah, Sakura gained everything she has by herself. She was giving a great fight against Sasori even in the beginning of the series.
No it isn't about the battle strength for me. Thats only a small percentage of why I dislike her character. I just personally find her annoying and just plain inconsiderate and mean
