I think it was a 3 day journey from Konoha to Oro's hideout.

If Shino and Lee had been there from the start, Sasuke would've been recovered. Remember, both the Sand Siblings and Kimimaro were dispatched on the last day to assist retrieving Sasuke. For both Konoha and Oro, respectively.

Shino vs Kidomaru - Parasitic Insects grant an edge against Kido's long distance attacks.

Neji vs Sakon and Ukon - Neji's gentle fist destroys chakra and he'd likely be able to repel Ukon, should they try to merge inside him.

That leaves Tatuya alone with the Sasuke barrel, against Naruto, Shikamaru, Kiba and Chouji.

Sasuke successfully captured.

This is actually a pretty good match up. I agree I definitely think they would have recovered Sasuke.had Lee and Shino been there from the start.

Too bad they nerfed Shino. But I agree with the matchups above, Lee could had destroyed both Jirobo or Sakon/Ukon as their taijutsu lacks in comparison. Shino could do any of them as well, plus if I recall correctly (don't know if this is a manga feat or anime), but his kikaichu are immune to genjutsu due to how their brains are, so yeah, given the conditions, shino could mop the floor with any of them.

Lee would still lose. CM + CM2 sasuke is out of his league only clown would say otherwise of course. They'd still fail one on one/two on one. Combined effort would matter a bit but I wonder would naruto get as stressed as angered as he's now if he had backup? Would ninetails chakra surface in three tails amounts? Not. Not a chance.
