To make things more interesting, let's take Sasuke & Naruto out of the equation. Task: create a team that is consistent to the present (during Bolts Movie) shinobi that reside in the village. Your team doesn't have to be limited to a number or any other quotas, just create the perfect team that you feel could beat Pain or at least stand a chance.

I'd say 7th gate Lee is enough or damn near enough. Add Kakashi, Shikamaru & possibly Shino for back up.

Edit: I'm assuming Pain destroys the village the same way, the team escapes relatively unscathed & Pain therefore has his push & pull techs offline/limited.
