Enlighten me, what happened? He was about to break out of his genjutsu. The only reason he got his arms cut off was that he was standing too close to Itachi due to wanting to possess him, not kill him. Orochimaru has 5 in genjutsu for a reason.

Sasuke has already said in manga that he wouldn't have won against healthy Oro. Moreover, even sick and armless Oro managed to paralyze Sasuke and had he wanted to kill him, not possess his body, young Uchiha would've been dead long time ago.

I think high diff Sasuke could have beaten him. I don't even like Sasuke as a character, closest I came was when he was wrecking things at the Gokage Meeting, but even I won't hate on him. I love the pedo snake, but Sasuke is a genius. Even Oro stated Sasuke had a genius that rivaled his own in some aspects.

Orochimaru when sick nearly defeated Sasuke. He could have chosen to bite off or squeeze the life out of him instead of choosing to take his body.

No doubt in my mind that a Healthy Orochimaru is equal to or near MS Sasuke, and a current Orochimaru near EMS Sasuke.

Sasuke sorta implied that Orochimaru was stronger than himself at that time when conversing with Taka. Too lazy to find the scan, but when down like Karin saying "You're the guy who killed Orochimaru? Pathetic!" or something like that.
Sasuke responded "He was already weakened. That's all it was." Or something along those lines.

Healthy Orochimaru > 3T Sasuke in a fight, but the ritual would still probably have failed.
