this is a what if story of if obito had returned to the village.
OIbito stands in the middle of the pool of blood as we see him at the end of his slaughter.
Obito: i see...i'm in hell
kakashi begins to move standing back up his eye sight is hazy and first but it soon clears up he see's obito before him. his eyes widen in shock.
kakashi: ob..obito. You're alive?
obito: kakashi...WHY DID YOU KILL RIN! WHY!?
kakashi: I'm sorry obito, mist ninja had kid napped her and had sealed the 3 tails into her. she knew they were going to unleash the 3 tails on the leaf so she...
obito: she jumped infront of your chidori.
kakashi begins walking up to obito.
kakashi: i know you're hurt, you hate me i couldn't keep my promise. I'm worse then trash.
obito: don't think i'll forgive you with some petty speech i'm in so much pain right now, i've lost something important to me and it makes me want to kill everyone just as i've done to this mist ninja. i won't return to the leaf i'm going to create my own world where rin lives!
kakashi reachs obito hugging him.
kakashi: but that pain can be dulled by your friends who miss you. we all felt the same when you died, please return to the village and minato sensei me the whole village will be there for you. But i need you to because you're my friend and i need someone to help me get through the pain to.
obito breaks down crying the two unembrace and look at rins body mourning her death.
spirl zetsu: i can't let you do that.
the mask closes competently and obito is forced to start attacking kakashi but he phases through kakshi and then phases out of the zetsu. obito grabs rin and kakashi and teleports away to konoha he collapses unable to stand anymore. The next time he wakes up he's in the hospital with kakashi and minato.
Minato: i can't believe it obito you're alive.
obito: minato sensei... why weren't you there.
minato: I'm sorry obito in this time of war out forces are really spread i was unable to protect you or rin.
scene change
Madara: i see obito choose the leaf it'll only be a matter of time before he tells the leaf i saved him and tehy'll come here to find me.
zetsu: so what now?
madara: make sure project infinite tskunomi is achieved.
madara creates black zetsu and separates himself from the mazo.
scene change
Hiurzen: What madara uchiha saved you?
obito: yes sandiame he was very old. he was going on about some dream world.
Hiurzen: i see you've been through alot rest.
Time passes Minato is seen on the kage mansion holding the hokage hat.
obito: so senseis the fourth hokage then huh.
kakashi: it's perfect for him. Maybe deaths like rins and yours won't be as common under his rule.
2 years pass
Obito enters the kage mansion with kakashi both in anbu uniforms.
minato: kushina is pregnant i want you two to be her personal body guards until after she's given birth.
kakashi/obito: under stood.
Time passes were in the room where kushina gives birth, obito and kakashi are in the room aswell obitos anbu mask actually looks like the spiral zetsu mask.
Minato: i'm a father.
Obito: congratulations sensei, kushina sama.
minato: obito why don't you hold naruto while fix kushinas seal.
obito: sure sensei.
obito holds naruto but this time in a caring way and not as a threat to minato as seen by his counter part that did come in to kill. Naruto smiles at obito.
kakashi: He's lucky to have been born into this time period one without war. Obito hopefully he won't have to go through what we did.
obito: yeah.
7 years pass Obito and kakashi are regular jounin. minato is seen walking down the road with his parents.
naruto: i'm going to be a great hokage just like you dad!
minato rubs Naruto's hair.
minato: i'm certain you will, thats a good dream to have.
kakashi: same as yours obito you two have alot in common.
obito: it's almost strange how much we have in common ha ha.
they walk off into the distance naruto is holding his mothers hand laughing.
obito: He has the best parents in the world to.
kushina walks up to mikoto who is holding sasukes hand.
Minato: i have to get going make sure they play nice.
kushina: no problem they get along very well.
mikoto: i'm glad they get along just like us.
naruto and sasuke greet each other like old friends laughing and playing. Itachi also joins in on the fun playing hide and seek with both of them. 5 years pass obito is their sensei.
Obito: from today on you guys are team seven, tell me you dreams and goals, you first sasuke.
sasuke: My goal is to be stronger then my older brother itachi!
naruto: Obito sensei, obito sensei pick me!
obito: ok naruto whats your goal?
naruto: to be a better hokage then even my dad!
obito: good then we share the same goal, it reminds me of how your father and i had the same goal when he was my sensei.
naruto: dad taught you!?

obito: alright now it's time for alittle team work test...
Team seven flawlessly passes showing great team work.
obito: that was some great team work guys you got the bells and everything.
some more time passes, its the chuunin exams. Minato is sitting next to the kazekage ( orichimaru) with kakashi and obito as body guards. They watch the chuunin exams as naruto beats neji.
kakashi: Minato your son is good to beat the hyuuga clan, a genius like neji is a true accomplishment.
minato: you're right i couldn't be prouder.
meanwhile in the stands
kushina: YEAH NARUTO KICK THAT HYUUGA KIDS BUT!!!!
back to the hokages stand
minato: i guess kushina is to xD
After sasukes battle with garra the invasion starts as it did in the manga with minato being held by orichimaru while a barrier is put up. orichmaru reveals himself.
orichmaru: yondaime today the leaf falls.
minato teleports out of orichiamrus hands and to an area infront of him. orichimaru spits out hi sword.
minato: Not so long as i live.
orichimaru: then let's get this started shall we?
orichimaru makes hand seals summoning the first and second hokages. Minato looks on in shock.
minato: lord first, lord second.
obito telports in with kakashi.
obito: let us deal with the edo tensei first and second hokages minato sensei take care of orichimaru!
minato: alright!
Minato fights orichimaru for along time nietehr side is winning. But the sand village makes a call for retreat after learning garra failed orichimaru leaves with them. time passes and kisame and deidara appear at the village gates.
kisame: the jinchuriki is here.
deidara: she is the hokages wife hm? let's go kisame.
they enter the village and arrive at the mansion knocking on the door. naruto answers it and see's kisame and deidaras dark faces.
kisame: kid is your mother home?
naruto: no.
deidara: we'll just have to take her kid hostage then hm.
jiryra then appears out of no where slamming a rasengan into deidara but he blows up having been a clay clone. Minato teleports in saving naruto from the explosion.
deidara: crap the hokages found us i guess it's time we left hm.
kisame: you're right.
they fly away on a clay bird. naruto realizes how weak he was to face them and asks jiryra to train him for 3 years he accepts. since Naruto went into training sasuke asked itachi to do the same for him. 3 years pass. garra is kidnapped naruto and team 7 save garra thanks to obtios transportation jutsu. asuma still dies, naruto invents rasen shuriken. naruto beats pain but nagato escapes not as many people die thanks obito taking all villages to the kamui world where they are safe no one important dies at all. five kage summit happens uninterrupted. fourth great ninja war happens madara is revived by nagato.
Madara: so we're still missing the nine tails huh?
zetsu: thats right.
madara: i guess i'll just have to get it myself.
madara is then stopped by minato and the four kage obito and naruto
Minato: we'll never let you get your hands on kushina.
a long battles ensues minato with help from obito binds madara long enough to use the reaper death seal and seals madara inside himself.
minato: naruto this is it for me please take care of your mother.
naruto: DAD!
minato breathes his last obito pats naruto shoulder trying to reassure him. The next day the war is over and obito has been named the 5th hokage. 10 years later naruto becomes the 6th hokage.
