Rin still would've died. Aprroximately 75% chances. Kakashi couldn't do sh** + Obito was weak, and would've been weak if he didn't train like sh**. How could've he made a difference? He would've left Konoha in misery and been followed by Zetsu. Then meet Madara. Eventually he would become Tobi again. But the sh** would change drastically. So he wouldn't just pick a side, he would MAKE a side.

I was under the assumption that the coup d'état was only in planning subsequent to the events of the Kyūbi Incident. However, for discussions sake, let's assume that the Uchiha Clan that held a grudge against Konoha, had an acceleration in anger due to political decisions or whatnot. In whatever scenario, he would not be able to talk them out of the coup. Itachi, Hiruzen etc, couldn't do so, some random Uchiha wouldn't be able to do so either, unless Obito was in the higher ranks of the Uchiha-Clan. However.. Itachi, Shisui and Obito could create a rebellion within the Uchiha against the Uchiha and together they may be able to convince them otherwise. Together, with brute strength, they would win as well. So, I think no under conventional and practical means.
