This series would be 10x better than how it played out.
Agree or disagree?
In case you don't know:
Relatively uncommon in the west due to the emphasis on the male teen market, "seinen" is a demographic indicator for anime and manga aimed at a young adult male (college-aged) audience. As such, this kind of anime tends to be more sophisticated than shōnen anime. There are many of the same basic themes/subgenres as shōnen but they are more psychological, satirical, violent, sexual, etc. In other words they are intended for a more mature audience. Seinen anime tends to be more strongly rooted in reality, with many incidental details added to heighten the sense of realism and even fantasy elements being subject to a strong "realistic" logic.

I'm glad it wasn't. It might have been better but I would have never discovered anime at a young age then. I agree that they should have made the target audience a little older though.

A little Seinen would have been great.

Yup, I've always been saying that. Naruto should have been a seinen.

I would say no, Naruto is more fantasy big time! But Mario (Series he worked on before Naruto) would be perfect as a seinen, Kishimoto is good with dark stuff anyway. He actually planned on making one, but wanted to make a more kid-friendly manga and well Naruto was made.

If they switched to Seinen for part 2 yes because the subject matter being covered deserved a more mature outlook. But Part 1 worked perfectly as a shonen.

kishimoto was insistant on writing Seinen but his editor told him the money is with shonen so he listened, but tried to make Naruto more mature than its peers even if it was in shonen jump

I can see, well they wasn't lying about the money part.

I feel like Naruto sort of set the standard for really in depth shonen worlds and themes, before there were graphic shonen but they tended to be pretty all over the place and mindless. Naruto was the perfect mix of shonen fun and seinen complexity\substance
