He was puzzled. Even after the whole fight, there were still shit that Naruto has to take care of. The village was destroyed, the Kage Summit, Sasuke Uchiha, Obito Uchiha, Tailed Beast Power training, and other matters I guess.

If I had to guess on the author's purpose of doing what you stated, it's probably to keep away the canonical happening of a NaruHina. Had Naruto stated he loved her, that would cause an outrageous spurring of fan wars between NaruHina and NaruSaku fanbase and he doesn't seem to want that. Kishimoto had to subdue and subvert it to prevent that from happening.

That doesn't mean they won't be substantially implied. It's just that this is an action Shonen Jump manga and it's a serious one unlike Fairy Tail in a sense. :|

I get what you are saying, but I don't think naruto would have had to go that far. I do think some interaction was warranted after hinata sacrificed herself for naruto directly after the threat was gone. Like, maybe a page where naruto bashfully thanks hinata and hinata is actually the courageous one for once, a cute role reversal or something.

naruto handles hinata like a passing thought.

Because Kishi wants their love to be complete in a beautiful and dramatic way <3

what is complete or beautiful about a guy ignoring a girl who loves him

You obviously haven't read chapter 615.

I have, naruto would have done the exact same thing he did to hinata to chouji if chouji had been the one to slap him. hand holding included.

Naruto has commitment issues, that's all...It's obvious that they'll end up together.

Hinata's whole character revolves around loving Naruto..If they didn't end up together thaaaaaaaaan. . What's the point of having her as a character?

if naruto and hinata don't end up together kishi would be saying that true love is unrequited.

I agree on that one, there should have been more emotions to his thanks. But honestly, I don't give a Lucky Charms about the pairing schpeel. I just want a Naruto vs Sasuke final fight to the death. I want Sasuke to turn into an antagonist again so there would be an epic fight. It seems so fitting T_T Sorry for being off-topic. U_U

He does cares, chpt 615 states so, not going to write up a book about the pairing.
NaruHina is the way to go, anyone else who believes hinata or naruto belong with someone else... suck my diznick.

lol it's okay this manga isn't about romance, it's just interesting to examine under a microscope because it's so poorly handled.

PLOT NO JUTSU!

Romance is in the hands of Kishimoto. :|

'Nough saiiiddd!

Oh and Hinata confessed at the wrong time for Naruto to stop and think about how he feels about her. I'm sure we all thought, "That a girl! Confessed at a bad ass time while saving him!" But let's think realistically, his thoughts were more like, "WTF! I've got to pull myself together so I can defeat Pein and get Hinata out of here!", not "Awhh... Hinata... you love me? Oh my gosh... ".

Knowing Naruto, the confession was to much to process in his mind that moment. I'm sure he's aware of it now completely but like what other people said, he was other things he needs to take care of.

yeah dude I get that he wouldn't drop everything right there, but like, maybe after pain had died and everyone came back to life he'd take a minute?

This is actually a legit question.

My only guess on the matter is Naruto has attempted to brush the incident off.

Remember his character, although he desperately wants it, does not actually do very well with acknowledgement. When Sasuke called him his best friend he flipped out over it and couldn't quite grasp or understand what to do with the scenario. My guess is he has tried to push the though far out of his mind because he can't mentally handle the situation.

The scenario is different with Sasuke I think. In this case Sasuke left and that gave Naruto something to fight for because at that moment Sasuke ended their friendship. Hinata is just right there. He probably doesn't know what to make of the situation.

I'm glad you brought this up to be honest, it's a fair question :D

I think kishi would leave a few more hints if this was true. naruto has never been flustered or confused when talking to hinata or talking about her with others. we've never caught him mulling it over in his head, considering what she said to him or even just being confused. He just doesn't seem to think about her.

yes, I'll agree it's different, but if you look at it from the outside it appears he takes hinata for granted and over-values sasuke.

LMFAO!!! I was going to say counter bigfaterloser's respond by saying, "Well, he had to get back to training and tracking down Sasuke." XD

Well, uhm, yeah... he loves Sakura.

why did he avoid her for weeks after she literally died for him and said "I love you."

why did he never even take 1 minute to thank her.

sasuke literally tries to murder naruto and he spends the rest of his life trying to get him back, turn him good, make him his friend again, etc.

hinata loves him, does everything she can to protect him and care for him and he ignores her. naruto only seems to care about her when she's right there, and he's never told her that he loves her. Otherwise if he's on his own he's thinking about sasuke.

Its only been a couple of days.
