do you remember when naruto would think about sakura, and how she and him actually had quite a bit in common as a child?

ever notice how that never happened with hinata? has naruto ever thought about hinata when she wasn't right in front of him?

He was puzzled. Even after the whole fight, there were still shit that Naruto has to take care of. The village was destroyed, the Kage Summit, Sasuke Uchiha, Obito Uchiha, Tailed Beast Power training, and other matters I guess.

If I had to guess on the author's purpose of doing what you stated, it's probably to keep away the canonical happening of a NaruHina. Had Naruto stated he loved her, that would cause an outrageous spurring of fan wars between NaruHina and NaruSaku fanbase and he doesn't seem to want that. Kishimoto had to subdue and subvert it to prevent that from happening.

That doesn't mean they won't be substantially implied. It's just that this is an action Shonen Jump manga and it's a serious one unlike Fairy Tail in a sense. :|
