Every fanbase has a fanboy and even if you aren't a fanboy and a general fan you will still make that fav be important, it's facts.

Kishi might be a fan of certain characters but he is the author, therefore he does not love one character so much more than another because he made them all and has had a specific time in the plot for each of them. We might think things don't go in favor of some characters for us because they are characters we might like but it's kishi's story he's not exactly writing as he goes there is clearly a general plan.

Edit: Also last time i checked didnt he say chouji was one of his favorites?
