And if Mitsuki does indeed have the byakugan like how Hima or maybe soon Boruto can change their pigments and pupils to it from a normal state (all be it his byakugan is coloured like transformed Momo) then the two would make his class level beyond common sage abilities.

knows that the byakugan is the origin and the Rinnegan is via chakra fruit

and sent Mitsuki to follow Boruto but in Gaiden couldn't care less about Shin or Sarada

Well, if we're working under the assumption that he's a clone of Toneri, then it's worth mentioning that the Byakugan of the Hyuuga clan and the (moon) Otsutsuki clan might not be the same. It's implied that the Hyuuga's are in some way more "pure," although what that means practically speaking is anyone's guess.

because orochimaru is obsessed with these two powers

Oh i don't ignore them. I just know they won't ever be considered hyuga. Not because two groups are related on distant gene pool means they get to be lumped together. That's just desperate.
