do they not look like wings? in most mythology tengu on which perfect susanoo is based are portrayed as half human and half animal, often having wings, thats why i think madara's susanoo should also be capable of gliding if not outright flying

Now some may say that those protrusions on the back of madara's susanoo arent enough to provide the lift for madara's susanoo

If that be the case madara can further modify them so as to get the job done, he has shown that he can change the change the shape of his chakra to make shapes as necessary for the moment

I don't know, they would have been extremely useful against Hashirama. They both charged towards each other, if Madara had just jumped instead and attacked from above he could have won.
If his Susano'o was as strong as Sasuke's it would have been a lot easier to just slice SS in half than use TBBs.

I think that Madara didn't have the mastery to give flight to Susano'o, which is why he didn't use it. Because the wings on both Susano'os have arms too.

We see that he's battling hashirama's wood dragon that's the same size as madara's ps. Not once in this battle did he use those wings. Just because he has wings doesn't mean he could use them. Emus and ostridges have wings but their body is too heavy or wings are too small to support their body. Madara's ps could be like a an emu bird.

Until madara proves beyond any doubt that he can via feats, he cannot fly. Quite simple. Having wings doesn't mean you can fly(emos, ostridges etc), plus unless I am mistaken the wings are attached to the secondary arms, whereas with Sasuke's they aren't.

but perfect susanoo isnt based on penguin or ostrich, the perfect susanoo is based on the tengu from the mythology and they can fly

before sasuke's perfect susanoo came along it wasnt clear whether kishi intends to go all the way along the mythology of tengu but now its clear
