As a pairing, they surpass Itachi and Kisame in being my favorite Akatsuki Pairings. Considereing they keep their personalities and rivalry.

Why restrict them on their trademark special abilities? But besides that, yes. They'd be just as good a pair as Itachi and Kisame. They might not be the most powerful pair, considering the abilities of the other Akatsuki members, but they'd definitely be worthy of the Akatasuki.

A master strategist and a hot blooded taijutsu master, quite the pain in the ass duo to fight. Ridiculous how you restrict their master jutsus but regardless they'd prove to be a serious obstacle to overcome for the good guys.

They would be badass.
They are already among my faves; and badasses, but they would be epic regardless; my favorite tag team in the manga because of their fighting style and chemistry.

Powervise; they are already among strong part of NV; there are not much shinobi who can take on jins or assist to fight Obito.
Though their top abilities should not be restricted.

They'd fit right in with the Akatsuki too, lol. Gai could fit in with Deidara and Kisame, whereas Kakashi, Itachi, and most likely Kakuzu wouldn't have any issues!

But, Kushina and Zabuza are my inprov Akatsuki duo.
