Kishi is full of surprises.. giving his sense of fun by adding a few twist to the story.

Consider this.. If kabuto was using a clone to fight the Uchiha brothers, will Izanami works?

Clones dont have sentimental reflections of their past.

But ot, I think the jutsu itself would work, as the base principle is the same. If anything, using a clone is probably more dangerous, as when you hit it (in the loop) that information goes back to the real one. If the clone is in the preset loop, that info also goes back, so the caster would still be "under the jutsu" as the same actions would keep occurring until the clone changes the actions (so the caster would remain under genjutsu as well)

Clones are just manifestation of your chakra. Killing, destorying or casting spells on them wouldn't physically, emotionally and mentally hurt the user. It's like cutting your finger nails.

If your talking about a regular, genin rank Clone jutsu, then you would be right. The clone jutsu is just an illusion. I assumed though that you meant what if the thing Itachi is fighting right now was a clone. It would have to be a shadow clone tech, as they are the only ones that can physically attack, and as explained by Kakashi, whatever information a shadow clone receives instantly is transfered to the user when the clone disappears. :D

Wrong! If by chance Kabuto's using a Clone, it would be a SAGE - KAGE Level Clone jutsu, not your average - typical clone.

The chances of Kabuto using a clone against the Uchiha brothers is most likely. He's an optimist who uses pessimism to achieve it. If Kishi wants to make the story more interesting, he should at least consider this scenario. Because if Kabuto finds an altenative in breaking the Izanami.. rep. down to the Uchihas.

One more thing...

Itachi can regain back his Sharingan if he commits suicide or have his head decapitated by Sasuke. I don't swear but really Itachi needs an "instant restore"

The purpose for Itachi using Izanami on him was to stop the Edo Tensei. Since clones are an exact copy of the original, I would assume that the clone has the ability to stop the Edo Tensei. If he was a clone wouldn't the real one be able to just start it again... that's if Itachi manages to end the Edo Tensei. Remember that Sasuke has to kill Kabuto right after the Edo Tensei is stopped. If he's actually a clone... Kabuto would be able to start the Edo Tensei again because Sasuke didn't kill the real one... he just killed a clone.

Kabuto thought he was invincible so i don't think he would have thought to use a clone cause he would think he wouldn't have to.
