if itachi was the godaime hokage?

I was wondering... Wouldn't it be less life-costing and clan-wiping out to have Itachi appointed as the fifth Hokage? The third had already stepped down once before in favor of Minato. Itachi was certainly very loyal to the village and a move like that would have halted any attempts of coup d'etat from the Uchiha, since one of their own was the head of the village. Aside from obvious plot reasons -which actually are the most probable cause- there could have been two other reasons (that I can think of):

1) Itachi wasn't considered strong enough. And so Minato was indeed that awesome (no irony intended).
2) The rest of the village were indeed shunning the Uchiha and they were not going to give the Hokage title to any Uchiha, ever.

What are your thoughts? Can you think of any other reasons?

The elders have a big say in who's hokage, I doubt they'd entrust it to Itachi, as the uchihas were about to betray the village.

Your second theory probably has more truth to it. The distrust of the Uchiha may have called in to question the legitimacy of Itachi's reign. Also, Itachi was still a kid at the time. He wasn't even head of his household.

There would be doubts on whether the Uchiha would eventually corrupt itachi into performing some coup later on (he was 13 after all). Anyway the Uchiha clan don't seem to be a clan fit to be hokage. History seems to demonstrate that when given the slightest bit of power they become arrogant and elitist. Hence why izanami had to be created in the first place.

danzo and the elders wouldn't allow it. hiruzen probably would but itachi was 10.5 when the coup plan was set into motion and 13 when the annihilation happened. itachi was too young to be made hokage.

plus I doubt uchiha would stop. they would only deem that itachi joined froces with the enemy and became their puppet. so he too must be eliminated.

There was asuma who was older, stronger, and faster then 13 year old itachi.
There was JMAN who was OLDER, STRONGER, AND FASTER then 13 year old itachi.
There was Gai who was older, stronger, and faster then13 year old itachi.

Plus the only reason a hokage gives away his title Is when he is matched or surpassed....... And is worthy to protect the village and guide his people.

He is saying that instead of massacring the Uchiha they could have made Itachi hokage. At 13 there were very few, if any ninjas stronger than Itachi in Konoha.

Anyway he was probably too young but
hiruzen could have taken him under his wing and mentored him to get ready for the position but honestly hiruzen was the worst hokage in terms of leadership.

The point is itachi was to young and not talented enough to be hokage. Hokage needs to have a sense of leadership------- leader of a village is different then leader of hit squad. Leading hundreds is way different.
There were a few ninjas who had better leadership skills and were stronger than itachi, so technically itachi won't have such a good chance.

Like I said Itachi could be groomed for the spot because he is too young but he was probably the second strongest in the village. (Jiraiya never wanted to be hokage and was wandering around, he didn't live in konoha.)

However my main issue is what happens after the war ends. Will the truth about Itachi ever come out??. Or will Naruto get all the credit as he usually does?? I mean - Itachi is/was the trump card for the Allied nations - even if they didn't know they had one. He's going to turn the tide once he undo's the Edo Tensei.

I swear FFS if the Allied Nations start ass licking Naruto as if he single-handedly won the war, Imma go RAGE mode.

Kakashi had already gotten the name copy cat ninja- kakashi is smart, talented and very powerful. Kakashi served under the 4 hokage which would make him a better candidate.
Gai was said to always be the same level as kakashi, however not the brilliant but faster.
JMAN and tsunade are basically the most experianced and strongest and fastest and most powerful. Howerver they might have not been picked because one is a free bird and the other is a drink gambler.
However the most important candidate which you sacked so quickly is ASUMA... Asuma was related to the 3rd hokage, he was powerful, fast and strong, since he is related it would have been better to take under his wing and train him, and groom him.
Also there is yamoto...... Who is related to the 1 hokage which would have been a better candidate.
There is also DANZO which would have been the best to pick out of all since really the elder liked and knew the most (A loyal dog)

I see that you can't understand a single word I write. How many times must I say that Hiruzen could have mentored him and let him become hokage later?

Even so Itachi was still more powerful than every single person you listed. EVERY SINGLE ONE. If he had been groomed for the hokage position and actually had a sensei, then he would have been the best ever.

Remember that he had no one to train him after his academy days.
