First if all, with this thread, I mean no offense to any Itachi fans. I respect and admire all his sacrifices and prowess in ninja arts.
But, I just want to point out here, that he is not invincible like many fanboys make him out to be. I wish to clear the misconception like 'hadn't Itachi died young, he would have surpassed all characters in the anime' or that sort of stuff.
Now, to start off my arguments, I first point out to the fact that almost all of his one-hit ko moves came from his MS. By the time he fought Sasuke, his eyesight was almost gone. I know tha t many of the guys out there will say that Itachi's eyesight brimming in the edge of blindness was due to his illness. But, you and I know that MS goes blind eventually, afterall, everyone saw how quickly Sasuke went blind.
And, so, assuming Itachi didn't die against Sasuke, he would have ended up losing MS, and he made too many enemies for his own good, so soon enough he would have been killed off by one of his god knows how much enemies.
And, another thing to remember is that when his eye closes due to overuse of MS, his eyes closes off permenantly, he will lose his eyesight along with his MS.
I'm not saying that Itachi without MS = 0 or anything, because I know that he wasn't acknowledged as a genius with no parallel for nothing.
But, Itachi without MS, is only half as strong as Itachi with MS. Itachi without eyesight and MS jutsus is just dead meat.
And, another thing to remember is that when his eye closes due to overuse of MS, his eyes closes off permenantly, he will lose his eyesight along with his MS.
Then, another point many Itachi fanboys use to point out that he was invincible was that with Susanoo along with yata mirror and totsuka blade made him invincible. - While this maybe correct in a certain sense, this so-called 'invincibility' is short-lived. He can't maintain susanoo forever without going blind, and I sure as hell can't imagine him swinging around totsuka blade with one hand and yata mirror in another.
Also, it is worth pointing out that if he was 'invincible' as many put it,then why didn't he just obliterate all dangers to konoha including the akatsuki, or just root out Obito since he was aware of Obito's role in the entire thing.
^^ From the above facts that I've listed, it is easy to draw up the conclusion that had Itachi lived after his fight with Sasuke, he would n't have gotten any bit stronger, if anything, he'd have eventually became weaker. The only possible way for him to actually have become stronger assuming he didn't die young was for him to take Sasuke's MS, which would have destroyed everything he stood for until that point. (That ofcourse is if Sasuke could gain MS without Itachi having to die in the first place.)
PS: I know that I'll be flamed to no end for this thread, and I'm ready to hear that out. But, I do hope that fanboys who feel frustrated by this thread won't try to make comments like 'still better than Minato' or 'he was the strongest from the start' and turn this into some kind if Itachi/Minato or Itachi solo SO6P thread.
