If it is possible to have 5 element why doesn’t the academy teach them all?

As we know there are Ninja that can master 5 element such as 3rd Hokage and Nagato.

Boruto a genin has 3 elements which is very impressive, so it is strange they are not taught all the 5 elements including Yin, Yang and Yin/Yang.

They prefer shinobi to master specifics (Clan techs,1 element,KKG, their natural affinity(s)) before learning everything else

It’s pretty rare and advanced for someone to learn all five elements, hell even sasuke didn’t really show affinity for more than one nature till he was out of the academy so I doubt there’s any academy student capable of learning all 5 elements before graduating

It's extremely difficult to learn 5 elements especially at a high level. Kakashi was gobsmacked when kakazu was pulling out multiple elements at B rank.

Boruto's use of the 5 elements are pulled from his ass especially at the higher level. The ability to add a change in nature to the rasengan is a skill beyond S rank and he does it without intending it. The manga stats show Boruro has PL a technique designed to replace chidori so it's at least B rank +. The abiliry to generate water without a water source is a Kage level skill according to Orochimaru. These are just a few examples not even prodigies were pulling these skills out of their rear end Dattebasa.

Third Hokage was stated to be the wisest hokage in history. He could likely deconstruct it's mechanics through his wisdom like he deconstructed Truth seekers mechanism within seconds.

Just because he can doesnt mean everyone can. Not to mention Kakashi thought it was impossible for someone to master all 5 elements without having a extra power like Kakuzu's, to gain the ability to wield all 5 perfectly. So I'd say the Third wasn't normal just like Hashirama who inherited the Juubī Mokuton directly. Considering his parents did not have it. Both are God of Shinobi so maybe common sense doesnt work with them. The highest amount of elemental transformation a single individual can use without mastery over said element is 3. With mastery its two, considering Sasuke has two elements mastered and hes an all time genius.

So yeah, you cant master all 5 but you can master yin and yang along with any two of the basic elements.

As others have already stated, most ninja have a dominant nature affinity. Skilled ninja can learn to identify a secondary affinity and work with it. A dual affinity for chakra nature was one of the original definitions of a 'blood line limit' and allowed both affinities to be used to create a greater nature form (such as Haku's ice release). These go above and beyond learning how to use a second affinity by being a true dual affinity.

After that, people who can learn to use three or more natures are considered prodigious in their ability. They are usually very skilled and very experienced ninja - and it would seem the life expectancy of ninja is relatively low.

Unless we are going by Boruto... in which case... it's just harry fucking potter out there.

I think that ninjas need to go step to step. Besides, if they teach in the academy, then there were be less ninjas since it is very hard.

Also, I think that elemental jutsus can be classified in two:

1.- Nature Change of Chakra
2.- Control of an external element.
