If Hidan were smart he would be the most deadliest ninja. He'd be able to kill off the strongest tier ninjas from a distance. No one would know how they died.

He'd pretty much be the narutoverse version of kira.

Hidan was stupid in letting his opponents guess he was immortal so quickly, remember in the fight with Asuma and company he nonchalantly gets stabbed, letting everybody know what the deal was, he could've feigned death and caught unwary opponents with the scythe in 1 shot, he was too arrogant from being immortal, hidan with a little more common sense easily hits top 10, the mind games he could've played would've driven average shinobi insane

1 on 1 with no knowledge of Hidan's immortality, if he was as intelligent as say itachi, or minato battlewise, he'd win nearly all his fights, only god shinobi like madara or nagato can get him at that point, feigning death alone has pretty high chance of catching someone off guard long enough to get them with his mini spear,, injuring them fatally outright, or injuring them and getting some blood for the ritual, and if he could do his ritual with shadow clones, he'd be main villain status
