No. Pain was the best one to attack the village. Multiple bodies attacking, diversions used to create chaos, a group to carry out attacks, and additional support in Konan. Hidan would have eventually been figured out, but Kakazu would have stood a chance to create chaos, but it would leave his additional hearts vulnerable. Ever hear of spreading yourself thin? That's what would have happened.

By who anyone who fought would've probably died being unable to pass on the message. Also, you have to take into account the combatants would've more than likely died fighting them before they could figure out "Oh he can't die and oh he has five hearts."
