If you are trying to say that Harry Potter would speak Japanese, yep, that is true...
If you are trying to say that Japanese would exaggerate with that 'surviving' thing, yep, that's possible...
But if you are trying to say that anime can't be realistic then, no, that is not true...

However, I understand that Japanese could ruin this project easily. Why?
Because they don't just take some popular story and realize it without any changes. Good example is anime version of Romeo&Juliet. In worst case Harry would be able to create Rasengan or Chidori. :yeah:
But I was talking about well-realized project which would stick to the original story.

But again, everything is matter of different perspective. If someone, like yourself, EnDash-san, is used to the fact that Harry is, actually, real human being not just drawn human than that is different story.

I don't know what are you thinking. When you say 'it depends' then reader of your post (that would be me in this case) expects at least one more sentence after that. :p

Yeah, too bad it's still only an idea in the mind of some Anime&HarryPotter fan. :p
There's always Kickstarter. With enough donations, and you could them from the tons of Harry Potter and anime fans, a studio would pick it up.

anime and manga are just as art as any other art form. and have the potentional to produce a real masterpiece and become vital for understanding humans and emotions. but besides rare jewels most of it is childish. akira toriyama who created dragon ball said that he didn't care if his manga would become importent or historical and that he never thought western people would enjoy it, he just wanted to make japanese kids happy. harry potter is the polar opposite of that.

It's not strange at all that Japanese could start project like this. They already did similar projects in the past, so yeah, I understand your point, Rikerslade-san...
But who knows would donations be enough for good job...You see... most of the similar projects are ruined. To create good anime 'Harry Potter' the studio can't just create story following original book... They have to adapt many things so that anime could actually look natural to the experienced anime viewers who expect certain conditions to be accomplished, but on the other hand anime can't change too many things ( like Japanese did in the past, which ruined projects) because then Harry Potter fans won't be satisfied.
But again, I am talking about good anime... Some piece of crap can be created without studio. :p

Seriously tho, you don't think that Harry Potter anime would be good anime even if they made it to be one of the rare jewels?

And I'm too aware about possibilities for that! You don't have to repeat yourself! :p

Yeah, I mean, why not?

Oh, I don't know. Some people hate the idea, like EnDash-san! He thinks that anime would ruin the real story 'Harry Potter'.
It's not like there is not any possibilities for that but anyway...
I still think that it would be an interesting project. :)

ofcourse there is a possibility of that, you don't know if by luck they hand a harry potter anime to a studio with extermly talented japanese artists that do stuff for love and not just because it seems to sell well. but if they just make a low grade adaptation and change 90% of it to "the japanese audience" a little part of me will die. i just hate when a studio takes something so great and manage to ruin it completly. what i said is more out of fear then out of disbelief.

but think about it from the other perspective, what if some american director would take one of those jewel animes, a real masterpiece like naruto, death note, akira or dragon ball. and make a low grade terrible movie adaptation for the american audience, dumbing it down and changing it to the point where no one likes it. doesn't sound so great is it? well here are some great examples:

dragon ball evolution, based on the original dragon ball anime:

speed racer, based on the speed racer manga:

american film directors managed to butcher dragon ball into one of the worst movies of all time, i'm afraid that they will do that to harry potter in anime.

I find this, honestly, too good to be true.
But first time when I saw the picture I had only a vision of great anime... :erm: Real outcome is another story.

I would probably watch it to see how it compares to the books and the movies.
