Ever since the release of the latest chapter, there has been a lot of people on the base who are speculating whether Hagaromo is evil or not. Some people think it's because of his strange smile at the end of the chapter, and some people have some more in depth reasons for thinking that.

My question is: If he does turn out to be evil, do you think it has the potential to be interesting, and whether it would be good writing? If he is indeed evil, I believe it will be a fantastic gateway to introduce Hamura into the story properly.(he's still a big mystery). That will answer some questions like "How did Hagaromo get the yin seal" and why "Hamura was forgotten". What are your thoughts on the matter?

He was already the most powerful person on the planet at one point, and he choose to spread love and understanding through ninshu, he's not evil

Problem is, that if he is evil, why didn't he do whatever his evil goal was back when he was still alive?

He was the strongest being alive at his time, except for Kaguya and his brother.

Also why would he save Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi, people who would turn on him once he revealed his evil plan?

It just doesn't fit with what we know about him.

I am stuck between the Hagoromo and the Sojobo Theory. >_>
What on earth is the Sojobo theory?

I agree that he's probably good. I am just talking about the hypothetical situation that he's actually evil, and what that situation could possibly lead to.

Maybe Hamura was still alive and was an equal to him? A threat?
Everything we know about Hagoromo is either historically inaccurate fairy tales or have come from Hagoromo's mouth himself. And if he is evil, then nothing he said can be completely trusted. His story could be easily changed by Kishi, and it'd introduce more of Hamura.
That, and he'd show the true power of an Ōtsutsuki. Madara never had the chance, Kaguya blew it, now it's up to him to show real godlike power, to put the main characters in real peril.

Would be the best plot twist, and could actually save this pathetic arc.

This all looks like a setup.

- Kaguya's biju form escaping from the Gedó
- Madara back (He might know what's really going on.)
- The sage tools still there with the Rikudo horn on it.
- Sasukes sealing jutsu he got from Hashirama to restrict ''Sage'' Power.

He doesn't have to be evil for shit to go down

He might just want to rid the world of chakra completely (Which Naruto/Sasuke refused) thus ending in a fight. Or he could want to rid the world of Shinobi to bring peace or he might want to destroy all military capitals to prevent wars in the near future.

He has many options.

I don't think they have the time or space to make a whole other arc about them defeating Hagoromo or whatever. The movie is set to come in December. Hagoromo is basically a god. But this is Naruto. Anything can happen. So I wouldn't be that surprised if they made him a villain.
