If goku had went SSJ 3 during VS Majin Vegeta fight

Would vegeta also reach SSJ3 at that time or atleast surpassed SSJ2 seeing goku transform into a new form??
I think he would have reached SSJ3 because he reached SSJ1 because Goku transformed into a new form and he did not. And he was already in Majin form so his hatred was already multiplied allowing him to surpass SSJ2 and reach a new form.
I think Goku did not wanted vegeta to reach SSJ3 because then he would have been a bigger trouble than others if vegeta ever again wandered towards his evil side.
But then vegeta would have been the strongest SSJ3 saiyan ever.
He already surpassed SSJ3 in SSJ2 form when bulma got hit by billis.

No he was already at his peak at that point hence why he used majin powers to awaken the full extent of his power. We know saiyans grow with every defeat however the gap between ssj2 and ssj3 is massive. He was given a beating by buu but even that wasn't enough to push him to SSJ3.

Same could have been done had goku transformed SSJ3 infront of him to fight him. Majin powers already multiplies his hatred which would have allowed him to surpass his peak and unlock a new level.

Definitely wouldn't have ascended to SSJ3 just because Goku did. By the rule of DBZ Goku must always remain ahead of Vegeta in power. Vegeta woulda got thrashed if going SSJ3 wasn't a threat to Goku's remaining time in the living world. Not to mention it probably takes plenty of training to even sustain the transformation. Just to be somewhat nice I will say that if Majiin Vegeta had SSJ3, he'd be sadistic and incredibly powerful.

But he did manage to surpass ssj3 in the latest movie while being in ssj2 form. So i think it is possible.

And you're also wrong. Vegeta didn't initially become a Super Saiyan because of his hatred and envy over Goku's ascension. He didn't turn SS until he let go and stopped chasing/caring about becoming a Super Saiyan, and also due to the impending threat to his life in the form of a mega asteroid.

Vegeta would have fell to his knees witnessing that transformation. That's the other reason Goku didn't transform during that fight, the other one being that the energy drained from it would decrease his staying time in the living world. That surely would have completely broken Vegeta's fighting spirit. or at least that's what Goku believed. He was already salty that he barely closed the gap between himself and Goku, then he had to witness Gohan surpass both of them, then Goku sacrificing his life like it was nothing also vexed him, he didn't understand how a full saiyan could be a martyr solely to protect his loved ones..Him being dead for 7 years and returning with an even stronger transformation would have been it for his pride.
