If Gai's dad could not defeat the 7 swords men using the 8th gate, how the hell does gai expect to even land a scratch on Judara?

If im not mistaken, kakashi easily beat most of the edo swordsmen.

Seeing Dai go 8th gate against them and only being able to buy time is quite a let down and makes me really less excited to see Gai use 8th gate.

BUT to show how bad ass Gai is, i think the plot is going to be stretched beyond imagination to make gai not die in vain.

Somehow, hes going to do some kind of damage or stalling in the next couple manga chapters. Even though from what we know from Dai, he shouldn't even be able to get 100 close to judara.

i just stated that. its for the sake of Gai not DYING for nothing that he will do some kind of damage. But truthfully, he shouldn't be able to land anything on madara. not even close. based off of what we saw from his dad.

...no. Gai surpassed his father in many ways. While Dai could use the Hachimon Tonkou, Gai also is able to do the Kai, and also you can't possibly compare the power of these both characters, because you don't know if Gai trained more than his father.

you can compare. Not a lot of people are capable of opening the gates, let alone the 8th. and Dai showed him how to do it. Obviously, the story is about youth becoming stronger than the ones before them, but im pretty sure he wasn't insane worlds apart from his dad. Especially being able to open the 8th gate. the 8th gate makes you stupidly stronger than your base power. im not sure if it is scaled with how strong you already become from your base power, or if everyone that opens the 8th gate pretty much has the same power level since it brings the human body to its max level. to me, since human bodies are so similar, i think its possible that everyone gets the same max level of power from the 8th gate.

For example:

like lets say 8th gate gives you 10,000 power level. which is the max we will say. your base power level is like 500. someone else that can use the 8th gate has a base power level of 300. but when they both use the 8th gate, they both reach 10,000 power level.

But thats just my opinion on it. its probably wrong but it seems alright.

Hachimon Tonkou is a technique to open the chakra gates in the chakra network system. When the user let his chakra flow freely, a lot of physical abilities are enhaced, but this kind of boost has a lot of drawbacks due the muscular stress.

This told, as the technique is directly related to chakra, I thought from the start that the technique had to multiply the base power depending on the amount of chakra reserves/stamina in the user.

It's probably the reason of why Gai trained so hard, and why Gai trained Lee to that extent... to improve his stamina and be able to open more gates.

Well i think you are missing the point. Its suppose to boost your original level. He was a genin so Him getting his level boost isnt as amazing as Gai doing it now as a high level jounin.

This technique is similar is a bell curve the better you are the better and dramatic the effects.

we all expect gai to die just like dai did but id be shocked if he didnt have some effect on madara.

if 8th gate can take on judara, then im pretty sure 8th gate wasn't even needed against the 7 swordsmen. and if 8th gate was used on them, he should have killed them all. at least 5 of them survived.

But power levels dont work like that in this manga or any other manga ive read.
Nothing has a cap or limit when it comes to power. For example Narutos Sage mode is better than minato and pervy sage. In this manga human bodies are not similar. Everyone has different chakra levels and to make it even more unique Kishi gave them all different Natures.

U do know naruto is still a genin, and so is sasuke. so obviously you can't use rank for this. and yes im sure gai is stronger than his dad, but you have to be immensely strong in the first place to be able to use the 8 gates anyways. Lee didn't just become capable of using the 7th gate or (possibly 8th gate) instantly...

THINK ABOUT IT. do you really think a TRUE GENIN would be capable of using 8TH GATE? NARUTO IS A GENIN and is one of the most powerful nins there are.

But the fact that Dai took 20 years to do what Lee did in much less time proves that characters grow at a different rate, and in consequence, Gai could just surpass his father in the use of the gates.

Naruto is the only genin of his kind,Either you have village rank or bingo book rank. So lets just keep Naruto out of comparison in that way. Also yes we do use rank as a bench mark for power-level its not the only factor but its a huge factor(specially since rank has been mentioned throughout this series hundreds of times)



Now about 8gates.Lee lost to gaara while 6?using gates You think gai would have had to use 6gates to beat gaara back then? We have seen gai and Lee team up and clearly Gai is the better ninja still. Gai using 8 gates isnt the same as Lee or dai. Same thing as Madara using Susanoo compared to itachi and Sasuke(Same technique just used differently)
