If Gai was in kohona when it was attacked by Pain

Even Kakashi would win against these 2 paths.It was just plot no jutsu that saved Deva because he was the new boss and Naruto needed somoene to test SM.

Basically, Gai was Magically not in village, Kakashi had to Magically babysitting Akimichi clan and over all he had to sacrify his life with kamui to save Akimichi clan Magically.Naruto is Magical.

Nothing magical about it. He simply wasn't there because he's severely outclassed by Tendo. Fodderizing him then wouldn't get as much drama as fodderizing Hinata.

Team Guy was the perfect counter to the pain invasion.
(Too bad that they were on "that one mission")
Guy and lee's speed,reflexes were already above Naruto's as well as their strength.
They would of served as the main offensive.
Neji with his 360 field of vision and ability to bend the light in various angles to great distances would of easily countered the rinnegans multiple sight.He will be the main support and secondary offense.
TenTen with her ability to cover a wide radius with a barrage of various weapons could act on neji's comman by blocking out the sights(Neji with his air palms could attack with tenten or attack right before guy and lee prepare to attack to either keep other bodies busy or stall the preta path so guy or lee and get a clean shot.

They got the strength to smash them.
They have the sight to counter.
And they have the team as well.
And most importantly the willingness to die.

The eighth gate isn't needed.
Team guy + kakashi would have handled pain.
Guy solos animal and asura(machine path I think) with relative ease. Deva would be a problem but asakujaku lasts longer than 5 seconds. So he might be able to push it away but the flames well still converge and overtake deva.
Lee could take guy's place if he has asakujaku as well at that point in time. But if he doesn't he blitzes them.
Neji kakashi and tenten are support.

If team Gai was in Konoha at the time of the Pein invasion, Naruto wouldn't have had to fight at all.

It is true that team Gai and Kakashi would be able to take on Pein, but they would aso have Tsunade on their side which would have been over kill.

Gai doesn't need the 8th gate to be a main factor in taking down Pein.
