I think he could have a relationship with Matsuri, but I see it as not working out very well. Personally, I'd rather he be asexual canon-wise. He's an uncle, that's cool, just don't give him his own kids please. Give him adopted babies and make him a single dad or something, but no actual babies.

If Matsuri had become a stronger character over the timeskip, even in the war, I could have handled it.

People are making some great points about other Jinchuriki as well, and I think that could work. Gaara could have developed a bond with them like he did Naruto.
