Hello guys, I would like to talk about Edo Tensei technique... specifically reffering to situation when caster of ET get killed.

You must be registered for see images

^^ Hiruzen mentions that Edo Tensei will not stop even if caster of ET get killed...

^^ Kabuto confirms that Edo Tensei technique will not stop even if he get killed.

However what truly would happen to summons if caster get killed ?

I mean Edo tensei summons are either working on autopilot, controlled movement, being mindless zombies or controlled directly. Now if caster of ET get killed could instructions written in ET bodies could still work... or just ET corpse would be free to do anything.

It is very important because if first asnwer is right then ET is really frightinining else all good people as ET could be friendly with you, which just leave only people with world domination or against your village , clan or having personal grudge as dangerous to you.

In short: In Orochimaru's case... Could Tobirama and Hashirama help Hiruzen and live on ? I am aware that with Kabuto's ET there is a lot of bad guys so it wouldn't work

Thanks for reading !

Please share your thoughts ?

my Question: Will ET follow set of intructions after caster of ET die ? or ET zombie is free to do anything he wants.

What will happen? Like the manga says, nothing.

Manga > fanfiction

But yeah, in the case of what happens after the war: The Senju boys could do a DBZ and become earth's protector.

Edo Tensei itself does not make the summon a puppet, it's the talisman placed inside of them. So if the user is killed, the summon remains

In the cases of Kabuto's and Orochimaru's summons for battle, they would continue to battle on due to the talisman instructions,

In the case of the summoned Hokage in the war, if Orochimaru were to die, they would continue to live on until sealed.

So basically the Edo Tensei summon remains in whatever state it was summoned and left when the user dies.

Thanks you replied for my question. My question was: Will ET summons follow caster's intructions or no after caster of ET death.

There is not clear in the manga... it is only stated that ET won't disappear but could ET summons get free will or still follow some set of intructions

It depends on the talisman that's in place.

If a full control talisman is in place [like the one oro used against hiruzen] then the edos would just stand there motionless & speechless until sealed. Nobody is controlling the edo so they logically can't do anything.

Auto pilot talismans [like the ones the edo kage had] will keep the edos personality but they'll still react to enemy attacks, so they become much harder to seal.

No control talismans are when the edos can do what they want even after the user is dead. People like madara & the hokage would be able to live on due to having full control of their bodies.

to the creator of this thread. this question has been answered in the manga and anime, if u kill the one responsible for edo tense. the summons still stay. read the got damn manga properly instead of wasting ppl time with a pointless thread when the answer was already given

These two have answered your question perfectly. I would rep them but I have to spread it around. Drapshin's answer was more concrete and detailed though.

In conclusion, what happens to the edo tensei depends on the amount of control and freedom the edo tensei caster gave the edo.

I actually like this thread, + rep for you.

OT: Not sure, I guess they would just do whatever they want, that is if the caster hadn't gave them instructions before death.
