Ideas for FUB Contest:.

First of all, I wanted to apologies for the dead contest. Ive been busy with RL, so I hope you guys understand. Hopefully, I will be able to do this again. ^^

Anyways, Ive been thinking about a new idea for the FUB contest. It was initially came up by Escorpiiuss long ago when FUB was still new around the base. He suggested that the FUB contest shouldnt focus on Naruto Manga only, even though its NarutoBase. So I wanted to see what the people's opinion on it.

The Idea
> A sticky thread will be made at the FUB section for everyone to nominate their favorite manga. The thread will be called "Manga Nomination".
> I will take a look on the mangas with the most nominations. Then, I will pick 4-5 of them, and create a thread with a poll to let everyone vote for the BEST Manga.
>Manga with the most votes will be the next FUB main focal for 2 weeks. (That's mean for 2 weeks FUB wont have a naruto manga anymore as their comic strip of the week)
> And cycles will start again.

Advantages of this idea.
> Masashi has become a serious man now. No more good jokes in the Naruto latest manga.
> So with this idea. Manga like Bleach, Fairytail, OP etc can still be used for FUB next contest.

Disadvantages
> It will be a disadvantaged for people who dont watch/read that particular manga. Worst, that person wont able to vote either since they wont get their jokes. (Unless the comic strip contained a general jokes)

yeah u r rit at the last part coz some mangas i have not read but many famous ones i read like dragonball z . naruto op few ...get backers will be awesome considering they always have jokes in it

Even though I don't read a lot of manga, I think it's a good idea since it may give us a large variety of manga to vote on, and like not.

So I like this idea and also support it.

Seems like you're running out of ideas for what pages to use for this though, which is why such an idea has come up. If we did a small calculation, there's nearing 600 chapters of Naruto now, each one has roughly 15-20 pages in them, so there's at least 9000 pages for you to choose from, and you're basically saying you're running out of ideas. You can use really old chapters as well, like maybe using a page where Lee got drunk in front of Kimimaro or something.

And besides, this is a Naruto forum. It'd be a bit strange if the competition which centralizes around the Naruto manga started using other manga.

If anything take screencaps of Naruto episodes and make something out of that. It's basically a caption contest, so you can do that.

He's not running out of ideas. I suggested that to him very long ago.

The concept of this idea isn't about having no more jokes possible with the pages (99minutes proved it last week while the war is on). It's about proposing a variety. It's get boring and repetitive to always see Naruto and Sakura and the same bunch of characters making the jokes.

The Manga contest allow different manga pages to be colored. The FF and Art contest allow any FF story and any drawing respectively. SOTW teams got teams for OP, FT ect... on different occasions. I don't see why FUB cannot do that. Being on NB shouldn't be a restriction. There're sections for diverse manga already.

It's not a matter of calculation either. Sample this: I remember many people complained when Caliburn chosen Naruto 4th Shinobi World War in SOTW as several week's contest and after some time, people start asking for diversity and wanted themes other than that Naruto-based. Was this because there were lack of stock/renders on the Net or was it because repetition was killing the mood? I'm sure some newness in the contest will make it a bit more spicy that having always the Naruto jokes. Plus, it's isn't as if the implementation of this idea won't give the possibility at a given time to propose another Naruto page.

Also, on the disadvantage, like Xentinel mentioned in the brackets, general jokes can still be used. For example, if someone never read Bleach, they can refer to Ichigo/Or whichever character is the page as they like. It's the jokes that matter; not exact reference to character. I can refer to Light Yagami as Justin Bieber; how does it matter? It's not a quiz contest; it's a joke-caption contest; where humor is the key.

Also, I like the nomination idea; which is an add-on by Xentinel over what I suggested. In this way, we'll get to know the majority's opinion. If they really want Naruto pages, they can just keep voting for it every week. But atleast, it gives the chance to those who want changes to express themselves.​

I still don't agree with the idea of other manga being used. The contest that come the closest to represent Naruto the most is the Fanfiction contest. Because, most stories are Naruto-based and the stories try to re-capture the mood of Masashi's storyline and mood. Still, the contest allow any other story to be used. Be it original/general, on books, on other mangas ect...

The Fill-Up bubble contest is here to entertain and I don't find it a bad idea to diversify it with possibility of other mangas. It's purpose is to crack joke; not to represent the mood of the manga.

I find it a little bit hypocrite that other contests allow other themes to be used just because it's about Art/Graphic but the FUB contest need to be stuck with Naruto. The same argument could have been said for Sig/Art contests - that this is a Naruto forum; not a GFX forum. So GFX/Draw with Naruto thingys or gtfo. I'm sure GFXers would have find that unfair then.

It's a Naruto site, we get the point. But that point should be a reason to neglect all other favorable arguments; especially when other contests allow different themes. I repeat, this suggestion is not going to like keep going with other mangas. I'm pretty sure, Naruto will remain the prime choice of most people in the voting panel thread but atleast, it gives opportunity to those who want changes and it's more fair that way.

I like the idea. I understand it's hard to look for a good comic strip to be used for FUB contest coming from Naruto manga, the comic strip must first can give a good joke so the participants can crack people up.
It'll be easy for the contest holder and the contest will be more interesting.
